  • 7P's = Proper Preparation & Practice Prevents Piss Poor Performance. (some call it 6 without the ... you know which)
  • Know Your Venue
  • Visualize Success
  • Know Your Audience
  • Claim the three “audience truths.” One: They believe you’re the expert, so don’t tell them otherwise. Two: They want you to succeed, so they’re on your side. Three: They won’t know when you make a mistake, so don’t announce it
  • Realize you don’t look as nervous as you feel
  • Memorize your opening

7 Tips to Become a Lean Business Traveller

7 Tips to Become a Lean Business Traveller | Resources | Scoop.it
Every day millions of people travel for business. In airports around the world, I see suits flying here and there, carrying laptops, reading briefings on planes, or preparing for their next presentation ‘extraordinaire’. We are all working hard to exceed expectations, meet deadlines, make money, surpass profits, and still be alive at the end.Unfortunately, many of those travelling executives look like they have had less sleep than a Giraffe, who, according to the Smithsonian Institute, sleep for 5 minutes at a time about 6 times a day and even then have one eye open and both ears alert to predators.

I find these tips to be good but one has to be able to adjust on the fly. One never knows what challenges they will face at the facilities they are commuting through. My number one tip would be to always allow yourself plenty of time.

Data science vs the hunch: What happens when the figures contradict your gut instinct?

Data science vs the hunch: What happens when the figures contradict your gut instinct? | Resources | Scoop.it
Despite the widespread adoption of analytics and scientific testing by businesses around the world, the management sixth sense continues to flourish. Almost six senior executives out of 10 see themselves as making decisions based on data, according to new research. Yet more than seven out of 10 of the same group also say they trust their own intuition when choosing a course of action. On top of that, despite most managers believing they are data-driven decision makers, 57 percent would reanalyse data that contradicted their intuition rather than trust it first time, the Economist Intelligence Unit study for predictive analytics firm APT has found.

What's the best way to take control of your own life and push yourself against boundaries?According to Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck, it's all about your mindset. To Create Change, Leadership Is More Important Than Authority

To Create Change, Leadership Is More Important Than Authority | Resources | Scoop.it
Aspiring junior executives dream of climbing the ladder to gain more authority. Then they can make things happen and create the change that they believe in. Senior executives, on the other hand, are often frustrated by how little power they actually have. The problem is that, while authority can compel action, it does little to inspire belief. It’s not enough to get people to do what you want, they also have to want what you want — or any change is bound to be short lived. That’s why change management efforts commonly fail. All too often, they are designed to carry out initiatives that come from the top. When you get right down to it, that’s really the just same thing as telling people to do what you want, albeit in slightly more artful way. To make change really happen, it doesn’t need to be managed, but empowered. That’s the difference between authority and leadership.
