Wikiduca, learning vocabulary through videogames

Wikiduca, learning vocabulary through videogames | Resources and Tools for EFL Teachers | Scoop.it
Inma Alcázar's insight:

Wikiduca is the project of two creative Spanish young minds, David Anthony and Anton Popovine, who decided to work on this educational browser-game to help children learn English vocabulary through videogames.

Starting from the idea that children love video games, fantasy worlds and solving mysteries, David and Anton propose exciting quests and minigames for them. As children increase their vocabulary words, they gain more powers and new missions within the game. The key point is "learning by playing".
Wikieduca is basically based on a business freemium model, that is, most of the content will be free except a small part of extras. You can read this news in Spanish.

4 key factors that are changing the business of #elt #elearning | Resources and Tools for EFL Teachers | Scoop.it

The internet, the emergence of English as an international lingua franca, and globalization are revolutionizing education and specifically ELT at a very fast pace. As an EFL teacher and social media manager for a small ELT publisher, I’ve followed these changes with great interest and this past month my team at Edulang revolutionized the way we’re sharing our elearning applications

Novlet - Collaborative non linear story writing

Novlet - Collaborative non linear story writing | Resources and Tools for EFL Teachers | Scoop.it

"Novlet is a web application designed to support collaborative writing of non-linear stories in any language. With Novlet you will be able to read stories written by other users, create your own ones, and choose the plot you like most from several alternatives.

Novlet stories are divided in passages, text sections usually made of a few paragraphs: users can continue stories or add alternative storylines by creating their passages after existing ones. The only limit is your fantasy."

They will find great infographics there which may help them to understand the language. The only problem is that the site is American and the rules may not always be appropriate for British English.

This is a really useful site. It has a lot of infographics to explain small, confusing bit of grammar, like such & so for example. Nicely laid out and clearly explained.
