As part of the Change Fund for Reshaping Care for Older People (RCOP), VAF will manage on behalf of Glasgow’s Third Sector Interface the Third Sector Transformation Fund.
People in Scotland are living longer and there is a need to plan now to develop the care infrastructure of the future. The public, private and third sectors need to build on the good work they have already done and there is consensus that in reshaping services there should be a focus on preventive care and community involvement, supporting people to look after their own health, loosening dependence on institutional care and enabling people to stay active and engaged in their communities.
The Third Sector Transformation Fund is for third sector organisations providing services to older people, in the Glasgow City Council area, to help them develop projects which:
Increase self-help and the promotion of independence in the community;
Reduce social isolation by increasing preventive interventions;
Build community capacity to enable people to be more connected;
Shift the balance of care from institutional settings to a community setting.
The Fund will support activities running between October 2012 and September 2013. Application forms will be available when the Programme launches on-line on Thursday 30th August. VAF is also planning two information sessions at 2pm on Monday 20th August and 6pm on Thursday 23rd August for potential applicants. Guidance on the Fund will be available at those meetings and thereafter on line.
The closing date for applications is Thursday 20th September. The final decision on applications will be made in mid-October 2012 with approved projects commencing thereafter. In the meantime further information is available from Diane Wilson, Programme Development Officer, on 0141 354 6510, firstname.lastname@example.org
