Implementation Science | Using concept mapping in the knowledge-to-action process to compare stakeholder opinions on barriers to use of cancer screening among South Asians | Representando el conocimiento | Scoop.it

Using the knowledge-to-action (KTA) process, this study examined barriers to use of evidence-based interventions to improve early detection of cancer among South Asians from the perspective of multiple stakeholders.

In 2011, we used concept mapping with South Asian residents, and representatives from health service and community service organizations in the region of Peel Ontario. As part of concept mapping procedures, brainstorming sessions were conducted with stakeholders (n = 53) to identify barriers to cancer screening among South Asians. Participants (n = 46) sorted barriers into groups, and rated barriers from lowest (1) to highest (6) in terms of importance for use of mammograms, Pap tests and fecal occult blood tests, and how feasible it would be to address them. Multi-dimensional scaling, cluster analysis, and descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data.

Evolution of the Concept Map Based Adaptive Knowledge Assessment System: Implementation and Evaluation Results | Representando el conocimiento | Scoop.it

The paper represents the concept map based adaptive knowledge assessment system. Advantages of concept maps are analyzed emphasizing that the approach offers a reasonable balance between requirements to assess higher levels of knowledge according to Bloom's taxonomy and complexity of a system. Concept maps allow revealing of student's knowledge structure, promote system thinking and support process oriented learning where a study course is divided into stages in each of which knowledge assessment is carried out. The developed knowledge assessment system consists from a teacher's, learner's and administrator's modules and is implemented as a multiagent system. Four prototypes of the system developed within four projects are described. The first prototype supports only fill-in-the-map tasks where a learner must put given concepts in correct places. The second prototype provides changing the degree of task difficulty, thus, performing adaptation to a learner's knowledge level. The set of tasks are also extended by construct-the-map tasks. Improvements implemented in the third prototype allow using of directed arcs and standard relationships in concept maps. The three-tier architecture used in the fourth prototype is chosen to rise the security level of the system. Besides that learner's support is considerably expanded giving help and tutoring to a learner. Results of evaluation of the developed system's prototypes in different study courses are presented. The paper concludes with the comparison of all four prototypes using all main characteristics of the developed knowledge assessment system.

Pas mal ces nouvelles aptitudes. mais je pense que plein de gens ne sont pas préparés. Par contre les jeunes d'aujourd'hui sont effectivement bien plus ouverts qu'avant.

Exemple d’utilisation d’une carte heuristique en cours d’espagnol

Cette activité de niveau A2-B1 est le résultat d’un travail autour de l’affiche du film Volver de Pedro Almodóvar.

La carte heuristique présentée dans ce compte-rendu d’expérience a été créée en classe. Elle a constitué la trace écrite que les élèves ont gardé à la fin de la séance et leur a servi de support pour une expression écrite. Cette activité a été mise en œuvre en collège avec une classe de 3ème Bilangue, mais elle est parfaitement applicable en lycée avec des élèves de seconde LV2.

Certains éléments techniques d'élaboration d'une carte mentale sont absents ce qui par défaut montre leur importance. Par exemple la version 1.2 de freeplane y pallie automatiquement, ce qui permet de gagner en temps et efficacité.
