Overlapping openings in the walls and ceilings of this Tokyo house by Japanese architects Suppose Design Office create dozens of views between rooms.

Contained within a rectangular wooden volume, the family house accommodates rooms for living and sleeping on its two main floors, plus an open-plan loft accessed by ladders.

surrounded by vistas of the countryside, the dwelling balances both intimate areas and an open living room.
the centripetal plan is connected through corridors leading to all rooms. the layout makes it continuous and comfortable.
in addition the smaller pockets of space allow for better lighting and controlled vistas.

This is architecture that originates from the system of Cidori, an old Japanese toy. Cidori is an assembly of wood sticks with joints having unique shape, which can be extended merely by twisting the sticks, without any nails or metal fittings. The tradition of this toy has been passed on in Hida Takayama, a small town in a mountain, where many skilled craftsmen still exist.

Designboom attended the symposium '311: starting over from point zero', held on november 2nd, 2011 at the university of tokyo, to coincide with the 311: lost homes exhibition at the TOTO gallery ma, where architect toyo ito lectured on 'what we can do to aid rejuvenation and architecture'.

During his presentation, toyo ito speaks openly about his reasons for engaging with the reconstruction efforts in japan,
the about the challenges he faced during the post-tsunami disaster with the sendai mediatheque. he elaborated on the ways
his engagement with members of the temporary settlements were the driving force behind the 'house-for-all' campaign.

tokyo-based practice jun'ichi ito architect & associates have completed the 'TSR building', an office building and mental health clinic in downtown tokyo, japan. a warm interior ambiance with rounded corners, eliminates the distinct separation between spaces. the fragmented facade evokes rippling water with ceramic fritting for solar control while reflecting snapshots of the urban landscape. bound by a small and existing corner building, the precast and prestressed concrete structure opens to two different streets.

'OH house' by japanese firm atelier tekuto (yasuhiro yamashita) has been built on an irregularly shaped lot that is 1.5 m lower than the road. the main priority regarding the house's design was  accommodating a parking space for a car. atelier tekuto created one with a web-like steel material, where light can filter from the web onto the
underground level. looking up from this area, the car appears almost as if it is floating.

The site is located in a residential area developed on a gentle perch in Hiroshima, overlooking a far view of the Inland Sea and Miyajima. The land of this area is developed into platforms form with several levels. The architecture was requested to have a view over the roof of the neighboring house, standing one level lower, and to consider security, for the site is located at the edge of the residential area, and to leave some space for extension when the client opens a small shop in the future.
