The Korean grandmothers who sell sex

The Korean grandmothers who sell sex | The Sex Work Industry | Scoop.it

Koreans could once be sure that their children would look after them in their old age, but no longer - many of those who worked hard to transform the country's economy find the next generation has other spending priorities. As a result, some elderly women are turning to prostitution.

Via Gracie Passette
TheBodyHouse.biz's insight:

The number of older women turning to the sex work industry is growing everywhere. Men never tire of having attractive women near them. No matter how old the man or the woman.

As human beings there is a sensual element in all that we do. We can honor that within ourselves and each other until our dying day.

India state minister on rape: 'Sometimes it's right, sometimes it's wrong'

India state minister on rape: 'Sometimes it's right, sometimes it's wrong' | The Sex Work Industry | Scoop.it
Home minister in BJP-run Madhya Pradesh state describes rape as a 'social crime' in comments playing down rapes

Via Lisa Medoff
TheBodyHouse.biz's insight:

This story features the political and cultural reaction in India to the rape of two cousins. They were 12 and 14 years old. These were not sex workers. They were young girls coming into womanhood.

Either way, the condescending attitude of men toward women must change to one of respect and equality. Men want and desire us deeply yet, shame and punish us for that desire.

It's time men faced that weakness in themselves that says women are less than. Honoring women is the best way to become a better man.

What If We Admitted to Children That Sex Is About Pleasure?

What If We Admitted to Children That Sex Is About Pleasure? | The Sex Work Industry | Scoop.it

"I’ve become so comfortable talking with children about sex, because most adults aren’t, and we’ve got a pedophile-panicked culture that just seems to be adding to the great silence.........How funny that we can’t bring ourselves to tell our children the most fundamental truth about sex, that most of the time we have sex, we have it for pleasure."

Us, Sex Workers: Means for a Meaning

Us, Sex Workers: Means for a Meaning | The Sex Work Industry | Scoop.it
What an irony: the practitioners of the world’s oldest profession are still bound to justify that theirs is indeed… a profession. “Sex work is work,” an assertion in the face of the popular stigma surrounding prostitution, has nonetheless become an international slogan to unify sex workers from around the globe. National and trans-national organisations are now able to bring forth the cause of millions of workers. But few would rejoice when assessing today’s scene...

Via Morgane Merteuil, Gracie Passette
TheBodyHouse.biz's insight:

Yes... Sex Work is WORK. If you don't think so.. then stop paying for it. It's not the "world's oldest profession" for nothing.

the confidence gap vs. the badass feminine - Justine Musk

the confidence gap vs. the badass feminine - Justine Musk | The Sex Work Industry | Scoop.it
I honestly don't believe that feminine badass has to be an oxymoron. The fact that our culture interprets 'feminine' as weak and submissive creates this belief that women have to become imitation men in order to be powerful.

This is truly insightful and interesting. Enjoy the read!
