Lying liars tell more lies | Referendum 2014 | Scoop.it

Jim Arnott's curator insight, September 17, 2013 3:54 AM

The millionaire's son is a disgrace to Scottish Politics. The person in the Five L Live debate how shouted "flannel" go it spot on. Derbyshire repeatedly asked him to answer the question and he just whaffled on and on and on and on and on and on and on... He did exactly the same when up against Scotland's Deputy First Minister in the STV "debate".

Caroline Molloy is Editor of OurNHS and a freelance writer. In 2011/12 she was part of a successful campaign which reversed one of the largest planned NHS privatisations in the country, involving 9 Gloucestershire hospitals. Since then she has been campaigning alongside local and national groups to defend the NHS.

Scottish independence: Our day of destiny

THE people of Scotland will go to the polls in record numbers today when two and a half years of campaigning culminate in the most important vote in the country’s history.
Peter A Bell's insight:

I was at Perth Concert Hall last night for Alex Salmond' s final speech of the campaign. The atmosphere in the hall; amongst the crowd outside; in the pub afterwards and on the streets was wonderful. A real feeling of community and empowerment.

It saddens me that some people choose not to be part of this. That they choose to stand aside from history. That they choose sour sniping from the sidelines rather than constructive participation in a quite magnificent process of growth and transformation.

It saddens me that, for so many, self-fulfilling cynicism will displace aspiration and fear triumph over hope.

It saddens me to know that many, perhaps most, of those who vote No today will in the coming months and years have cause to bitterly regret that choice. They will know the painful pangs of futile remorse.

Whatever the result, I will live out my days knowing that I have been part of something really special. Those who vote No will never enjoy that feeling. I feel sorry for them.

Logic's Rock: The Last Post

Pride is a thing I've often railed against. Anyone with the wit to type "Roddy Macdonald" "Gay" and "Pride" into Google will see that for themselves. Why the hell should one be proud of being gay? One just is. Just like how the hell should one be proud of being Scots? It is an accident of birth.

Scotland's day of reckoning: the polls are open

The polls have opened on a historic day for Scotland as voters determine whether the country should remain part of the United Kingdom.
Peter A Bell's insight:

Good to see that Gordon Brown's media manipulators are still on the job. That guff about him being "a leading figure in the No campaign who has been key in securing the fast-tracked pledge for more powers" is clearly the work of one of Brown's spin-quacks.
