Scottish independence: Go out and win - Salmond

Scottish independence: Go out and win - Salmond | Referendum 2014 | Scoop.it
ALEX Salmond gathered his MSPs together last night after the final Holyrood session before the independence referendum and told them: “Go out and win.”
Peter A Bell's insight:

I realise Tom Peterkin is paid to use pejorative language when writing about the the independence campaign. He would be failing in his remit if he referred to the aspiration to restore Scotland's rightful constitutional status. He simply can't say anything so positive. So, instead, we get "bid to break up the United Kingdom".

But surely this exhibits the kind of inconsistency and confusion that we've come to expect from British nationalism's propagandists. Is it not the claim of all the British parties that the UK would remain should Scotland vote Yes? Have they not asserted that what is left after Scotland becomes independent is still the UK, and the sole continuator state? Except when it comes to debt, of course. In relation to debt and debt alone Scotland is a joint continuator state according to that "special logic" that British nationalists use.

The question for Mr Peterkin, therefore, is whether the UK can be both broken up and remain the same. I don't expect an answer.
