Wings Over Scotland | A letter to a Unionist | Referendum 2014 | Scoop.it

Hello. Someone directed me to your blog today, which I’d have posted this on if I could have been bothered to register for a “LiveJournal”, “TypePad”, “AIM” or “OpenID” account, whatever the heck those are. But I can’t – at my age I’d rather have a root canal than waste my time signing up to yet another obsolete social-media network for the dubious privilege of commenting on someone’s website – so I’ll write it here instead. This wee piece by Effie is so shorn of substance, logic and common sense logic she has resorted to layering it with nostalgia so that it more resembles a union flag candy floss. I wonder if even she believe what she has written. If so, she is living in a wee Ruritanian nostalgic version an magic Union long since gone and which only ever existed on the pages of school history books written by misty eyes Empire Loyalists and used in certain schools.

I detect a change of language…I’m sure I heard Johann refer to independence as ‘an honourable position’ or somesuch. It was certainly a long way from her previous efforts, suggesting almost linguis...

A Sair Fecht: The Positive Case For Union

A Sair Fecht: The Positive Case For Union | Referendum 2014 | Scoop.it

It is perhaps time to hunt down the mythical beast. Like Big Foot or The Yeti, we hear a lot about the 'positive case for the Union' but none of us have yet seen it. Despite a veritable conveyor belt of anti-Independence politicians assuring us they are about to reveal these arcane secrets, it seems that none of them have yet been given permission by the Grand Wizard to reveal the self-evident truths of the Westminster Lodge.
