All of this petty scaremongering begs the question of why the rUK government would want to create unnecessary complications. Why is it assumed by British nationalists that the rUK Government would take an aggressively adversarial attitude of non-cooperation towards independent Scotland?

Why are these British nationalists convinced that the UK/rUK would not only fail to seek mutually beneficial arrangements with Scotland but would actually try to thwart any effort to secure such arrangements?


Do they not see the madness of simultaneously arguing that existing arrangements are excellent and that rUK would do everything it could to end those arrangements?

And if these British nationalists genuinely believe that the UK is characterised by such petulant obstructionism, how can they also argue that Scotland should continue to be part of this dysfunctional state?
