Scottish Independence Referendum Debate | Referendum 2014 |

On Sunday 23 October 2011 in an address to the Scottish National Party Conference in Inverness, party leader and First Minister, Alex Salmond, launched the campaign for Scotland's long-awaited independence referendum. The plebiscite, planned for the second half of the current parliament, is the most important poll to be held since the devolution referendum of 1997 and arguably the most important event in Scotland's history since the Treaty of Union. The referendum will decide Scotland's constitutional future.
