Apologies if the headline falls fouls of anyone’s work filter (although it shouldn’t, as it’s officially legally not a swear word), but we can’t think of a more concise and accurate way of describing the phenomenon illustrated by the comically absurd story that’s blared all over the Scottish media this morning.

How much money would we save on defence, non Barnet consequentials, Lottery theft, BBC tax, better adminstration etc etc . I'll take the problems of having the wealth streams from Scottish oil and damn the consequences.

The Office for Budget Responsibility has made clear that the UK’s austerity policies are harming economic growth in a humiliating rebuke to Prime Minister David Cameron. Director Robert Chote has written to Downing Street to make it clear the OBR does think the UK Government’s policies are harming economic growth after the PM tried to claim they endorsed the Government’s economically damaging approach.
