BAE’s Portsmouth shipyard to be downgraded

BAE’s Portsmouth shipyard to be downgraded | Referendum 2014 | Scoop.it
BAE Systems is expected to make an announcement this morning on the future of its three UK shipbuilding yards with Portsmouth set to be downgraded to a maintenance facility.
Peter A Bell's insight:

It wasn't only the SNP that was angered by Ian Davidson's boorish threat to have his own constituents thrown out of their jobs if they dared to vote according to their own conscience. Such disgraceful conduct is offensive to every decent person.

Once again Lamont is embarrassed by her superiors in London. There was the humiliating slap-down from Ed Miliband on the Falkirk fiasco. and now we have the disgusting comments of Ian Davidson making a mockery of her puerile platitudes about putting aside partisan differences.

Of course, the British nationalists are frantically concerned that there should be no public discussion of the implications for the independence referendum of what is being done to Scotland's shipbuilding industry. It is highly inconvenient for them that the things that they threaten will befall Scotland if we leave the UK are happening while we are still bound to this failed anachronistic union.

With customary hypocrisy, however, they have nothing whatever to say about Davidson's brazen politicking.
