Unite did try to rig Falkirk, says secret dossier

Unite did try to rig Falkirk, says secret dossier | Referendum 2014 | Scoop.it
THE Unite trade union recruited people into the Labour Party in an attempt to rig the selection of a Westminster candidate for Falkirk, a leaked report claimed yesterday.
Peter A Bell's insight:

By any reasonable account the report into the shenanigans in Falkirk was damning. It is perfectly clear that there was some quite deplorable conduct. Yet nobody was found to be culpable. Apparently, so long as you don't actually forge a signature then, by British Labour standards, pretty much anything else you do is OK so long as it is for the greater glory of the party.

How can anybody trust this mob?

Denis Canavan isn't exactly pulling his punches.

“I am saddened but not very surprised to hear about this latest incident. Sadly, it says as much about the quality of the Labour Party’s selection process for candidates as it does about Mr Joyce.

“He is not a fit and proper person to be an MP. My sympathies lie with the people of Falkirk, not with Mr Joyce. This all speaks volumes about the way the Labour Party goes about selecting its candidates.”

Coming on top of the internal rows over selection (and de-selection) of candidates for the forthcoming council elections, this is particularly damning.
