The experience of getting music is now different in this new generation. Many think technology is the reason for the decline in album sales. My generation will never experience going to the record store and having to buy the physical album. With our computers any genre of music is right at our fingertips.

Time is increasing the decline of album sales but reforming how music is received. This brings attention to the effect that streaming has on the music industry relating to albums.

Jason Berel's curator insight, August 12, 2015 6:44 PM

Ever wonder why your favorite album isn't buzzing in social media? Well, here you can read about how the discussion of music content has declined with the rise of digital media. Music has become such a private experience to the audience especially when all you have to do is type in your favorite song into the google searchbar, and there is no need to linger for hours at your local music store browsing through vinyls and CDs.

The L Magazine is known for its many articles on fashion, theatre, art and of course music. This article written by Jeff Klingman clearly defines the meaning of the death of the album. I completely agree with his opinion about people not caring anymore about long-playing albums. I can recall where I too preferred download pirated versions of the artists music but after realizing that they weren't benefitting almost at all off of album sales caused me to change that perspective quickly.

This article is based upon how the RIAA has included digital sales for platinum and gold standings. Jay-Z has set a new standard within the music community by going above and beyond as a entrepreneur. The pros to this is that it started a new form of income for artists. This has also opened gates for people to be creative with how they choose to promote their respective albums. Doing this will surely help them recover costs from album leaks as well. The cons to this is finding different companies to buy into everyones work. Also, creating digital outlets for these albums have to work properly. It's minor bugs like this that'll have people complaining.

This Article explains how rapper Jay~z changed the Platinum and Gold rules with the release of his album Magna Cartar. He has made a way for other people in the business to be more creative when it comes to the releasing of their albums. Highlights the collaborations he has instructed into his own work to expand the creativity of not only his creations but others.

Even at his most checked-out, Jay-Z remains a great MC; listen to how he layers his imagery on the Frank Ocean-assisted "Oceans": "On the holiday, playing 'Strange Fruit'/If I'm-a make it to a billi, I can't take the same route." But there's not much on Magna Carta . . . Holy Grail that he hasn't said before in more interesting ways.
