Take Notes and References While Watching Video Clips: VideoNotes | School Libraries and the importance of remaining current. | Scoop.it

VideoNotes is a neat new tool for taking notes while watching videos.

VideoNotes allows you to load any YouTube video on the left side of your screen and on the right side of the screen VideoNotes gives you a notepad to type on.

VideoNotes integrates with your Google Drive account.

By integrating with Google Drive VideoNotes allows you to share your notes and collaborate on your notes just as you can do with a Google Document.

Carl Grant: When the conversation turned to professions, I noted I was a librarian and I received the, not at all unusual response, of a grimace and the question: "Isn't that a dying profession?  I mean everything is online right?  Who wants a paper book anymore?"

"Four decades of research from Canada, the U.S., and Australia indicates that well-staffed, well-stocked, and well-used school libraries are correlated with increases in student achievement on the order of 4 percent to 20 percent, as measured on student performance on standardized tests, overall school performance, and student performance in reading comprehension and in academic subjects.[1] Other studies have shown improvements in students’ attitudes towards reading and in the collaborative nature of school culture.[2]"

Desicions are obviously made blindfolded... Very sad reading, still hoping that the research results would in the long run make a difference. We need to be more vigorous in advocating! Greeyings, Anu

Does risk-taking mean changing the way you do things? Shocking. Does collaborating mean some other teachers need to work with you? Unbelievable. And often impossible. Perhaps being a visionary means negotiating the bumps in the road without coming to a complete halt.
