One of the most under-appreciated jobs in education is the school librarian. Where else can you get book recommendations for readers of all ages or help with writing an essay?

I would say it's more of a replacement for Symbaloo or other bookmarking tools.

I would agree with Susan's comment. I think it is something to try instead of Netvibes.

I think like all curation tools, you need to find what works for you. If you have time investigate the next thing if not, stick with what you know.

Interesting, in other ways this could also be seen as framing learning as a constant performance of assessment. Where do you draw the line ? Delete the scoop?

It's the time of the year when no-one's thinking about library advocacy, and maybe we're all feeling a little bit snug and secure in the daily routine. Perhaps it's the perfect time to review some advocacy tools and begin the work well before the end of year budget cuts?

"Four decades of research from Canada, the U.S., and Australia indicates that well-staffed, well-stocked, and well-used school libraries are correlated with increases in student achievement on the order of 4 percent to 20 percent, as measured on student performance on standardized tests, overall school performance, and student performance in reading comprehension and in academic subjects.[1] Other studies have shown improvements in students’ attitudes towards reading and in the collaborative nature of school culture.[2]"
Desicions are obviously made blindfolded... Very sad reading, still hoping that the research results would in the long run make a difference. We need to be more vigorous in advocating! Greeyings, Anu

We need to keep fighting and collating evidence. We are necessary so we need to shout louder!

I have just began testing this recommendation by Richard Byrne on Free Technology 4 Teachers. But in the time I have taken to test the web resource, I have found it to live up to the billing of syncrhonizing notes to the video. Now the video used was from YouTube and the site does have an option for other videos. So, I will be looking further into what other video sources it will work with while synchronizing one's notes to Google Drive.

Thanks for your comment Dean - I have had some problems - when deleting a 'chapter mark' it seems to throw sync of subsequent markers - just something to be aware of. or possible just me?

We certainly need more school principals like David in the system. Thank you David for your insight.
