How to Evaluate Learning: The Kirkpatrick Model for the 21st Century | REC:all | Scoop.it

Old-school (online) trainers will be familiar with the 4 Level Kirkpatrick evaluation model. I have occasionally used in HE to look at online and classroom-based training. This is a substantial revision which starts with defining what the results should be and then goes backwards through the four levels in sequence, building a “chain of evidence” with data from all four of the levels. Could be useful when looking at the impact of screencasts, for example, with a view to estimating what Kirkpatrick calls this Return on Expectations, or ROE (nice term!).

4 Ways to Make Synchronous eLearning Dazzling

4 Ways to Make Synchronous eLearning Dazzling | REC:all | Scoop.it

Flipping the lecture hall: first thoughts

Flipping the lecture hall: first thoughts | REC:all | Scoop.it

I am thinking more about how we can use technology at universities to give the students what they want: meaningful contact time with their lecturers, professors and the leading academics. This is about putting the people back at the centre of the learning. It is using technology to do stuff technology can do, and allowing people to do the things most of us want people to do....interesting post from one of my UCL colleagues.

Screencasts -Tech Support to Maximize Instructional Time

Screencasts -Tech Support to Maximize Instructional Time | REC:all | Scoop.it

How do we keep the focus of the learning experience on content and avoid being consumed by teaching students how to use the technology? Screencasts can be used to provide demonstrations and tutorials to teach the "how to" of using the technology. Users can pause the tutorial, and replay it as often as needed to learn the "how to", allowing the teacher to circulate around the room facilitating differentiated content based instruction through informal assessment, reteaching and enrichment.
