Upwards-falling UAVs ? What... | Reality Bytes | Scoop.it

DARPA begins development of ocean-launched,

upwards-falling UAVs

DARPA wants its drones to fall upwards. It sounds like nonsense at first, but this “Upward Falling Payloads” (UFP) program is actually quite clever. First of all, the Navy needs to plant unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) inside of capsules across the ocean floor, all over the world. From there, the UAV (or another strategic payload) can hibernate inside of the protective capsule for years on end. When the Navy needs surveillance or aerial support, it can remotely trigger these devices, and they float to the surface. In other words, they fall upwards.

In a post on DARPA’s website, program manager Andy Coon explains why these UFPs are useful, and lets us in on some of the challenges that engineers will face when creating the capsules. Essentially, the Navy is hamstrung by its resources. Getting proper coverage to every nook and cranny of the globe is difficult with its current strategies. With the UFP program, the Navy will be able to get coverage in far-flung areas with very short notice.

IBM BlueMix is IBM's new PaaS for developers. Sounds interesting and here is what their website says:

It "is an open-standards, cloud-based platform for building, managing and running apps of all types (web, mobile, big data, new smart devices). Capabilities include Java, mobile backend development, application monitoring, as well as capabilities from ecosystem partners and open source — all through an as-a-service model in the cloud."

Growing use of drones poised to transform agriculture

Growing use of drones poised to transform agriculture | Reality Bytes | Scoop.it
The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International, the trade group that represents producers and users of drones and other robotic equipment, predicts that 80% of the commercial market for drones will eventually be for agricultural uses. Once the Federal Aviation Administration establishes guidelines for commercial use, the drone industry said it expects more than 100,000 jobs to be created and nearly half a billion in tax revenue to be generated collectively by 2025, much of it from agriculture. Iowa, the country's largest corn and second-biggest soybean grower, could see 1,200 more jobs and an economic impact topping $950 million in the next decade.

. . . .

Brent Johnson, a corn and soybean farmer in Calhoun County in central Iowa, purchased a drone in 2013 for $30,000 that is already paying dividends on his 900-acre farm. He's used the aircraft, which covers about 80 acres an hour, to study how yields on his property are affected by changes in topography. And last growing season he identified some areas where his corn stands were not strong enough, information he's going to consider in future plantings when he decides whether to replant or avoid the acreage all together. This year he's going to scout early for any problems and use the data he collects to help determine when to sell his crops.

"I'm always looking for an advantage, looking for how I can do things better," said Johnson, who also owns a precision agriculture company.

Toxic ingredients in anti-aging creams like ‘Meaningful Beauty’ are not ‘Meaningful’ or ‘Beautiful’.
Reality Bytes's insight:

Anti-ageing?  No, it is just the opposite. These creams, advertised as having properties to keep you looking beautiful, young and attractive are in fact just the opposite.

Bless water and pray over it before drinking it or using it in your garden. Say words like 'Good Health'  'Thank You' 'Love'  'Gratitude' or put labels bearing these words on bottles of water. Freeze the water before you use it. It will form beautiful crystals and will then perform miracles. Watch this video, read the interview with Dr. Masaru Emoto in the links given below :

Coconut oil is a natural product, bountifully produced in Eastern countries like India.  This oil is used for cooking in the Southern parts of India. Indian men and women use the oil for body massages, to nourish the hair and a spoonful or so  is even added to warm bathwater to give the skin protection, and a soft natural glow throughout the day.  It has healing and preventive properties against all skin ailments and should make an important part of every person's kitchen/bathroom cabinets
