Google is Not Out To Get You - Get Over Yourself, SEOs

Google is Not Out To Get You - Get Over Yourself, SEOs | Real SEO | Scoop.it

"Fed up with Google's continual changing of the rules?

Worn out by all mixed messages they send?  Sick and tired of being sick and tired of the endless insanity that’s known as SEO?

Listen up, people.  If you want to stop getting hammered by Google for your SEO practices, you really need to pull your heads out of the collective sand and start using your ability to grasp concepts most of you ignore..."

Nick's insight:

All SEOs need to make “Stop being an absolutist who only sees things in black/white and 'all or nothing'" a New Year’s Resolution.
It isn’t press releases that are inherently bad – it is that nobody should expect just any half-assed press release to help the site rank better. Just like anchor text links and maybe even directories – when used wisely they will work. When abused, they will do harm (or at least not work).

Crafting Your Ad For Google Organic

Crafting Your Ad For Google Organic | Real SEO | Scoop.it
Compelling ad copy can be more important than getting each and every keyword in the title and description. Writing compelling ad copy will bring more traffic which results in a higher relevancy score, higher rankings, and better clickthrough rates.
Nick's insight:

Been saying this for a while: well written ad-like titles and descriptions, can often outperform a spammy keyword-rich title. Higher clickthrough rates are better than getting to the top and looking stupid doing it.

Why People Hate SEO

Why People Hate SEO | Real SEO | Scoop.it
Every few months, someone seems to attack search engine optimization. SEOs are often quick to rise in defense of their profession. I’ve done that plenty myself, in the past.
Nick's insight:

I try call bullshit on misinformed anti-SEO articles when I see them, if I have the time. I also attempt to do the same when I see "crap hat" SEO being promoted somewhere where my comment won't get deleted.
