The amount of days on market your home is on sale for will effect the price your home will ultimately sell for.

Days on market is the measure of how long a home has been sitting for sale.  Most homes which are properly priced and properly marketed should sell within 30-60 days.  Homes that have a price that is too high or have no marketing sit longer and as a result suffer a stigma in the buyers mind.  Even if nothing else is wrong with the home buyers will still think the only reason a home is sitting for a long time is that something is wrong with it.  As a result buyers may skip a home that has been aging on the market for too long.  This article covers some ideas on how to avoid being on the market for too long with your home sale.

In another sign that the recovery from the housing crisis is ongoing rather than stalled out, the total number of completed foreclosures in 2015 was the lowest number of completed foreclosures in any year since 2006, a new report from CoreLogic shows.

The numbers hit a 8-year low just last month.

Foreclosures fall to lowest levels since 2006.  Even with the decline in foreclosures it is unclear if the housing market in the US has cleared itself of problem homes.  If the economy begins to falter again we may see this number rise again.
