Of course another brilliant post Corey, Dictating to patients what they MUST DO makes the patients feel like they are a # and are not being heard and part of a non human system.  We need to let the patients talk, feel  and then once You the doctor talk let them integrate what has been said and then ask do you understand, have questions etc... make them a PART OF the plan, not being told what to do yet a PART of their own health plan after all it is their body.
