New figures released today show a record number of people in employment, but fears have been raised that rising self-employment figures are masking the true state of the job market.
Anne Bosworth's insight:
It's not simply a matter of "self-employed" workers, it's also the number of people who have stopped looking for work. And all this mess to say nothing of the folks who do not get re-employed at the same (or better) earnings than previously. You could go from being a $100K+ exec to being a clerk at 7-11 and the system could care less. They mark you back in black once you are no longer eligible for benefits, regardless of whether you ran out of benefits or you finally caved and took any job you could find. The whole system is outrageously failed and flawed.
