Rodney King had alcohol, cocaine, marijuana and PCP in his system during 'accidental drowning'

Rodney King had alcohol, cocaine, marijuana and PCP in his system during 'accidental drowning' | READ WHAT I READ | Scoop.it

Los Angeles (CNN) -- Rodney King's death in June was the result of accidental drowning, although alcohol, cocaine, marijuana and PCP found in his system were contributing factors, authorities said Thursday.

King, whose beating by Los Angeles police in 1991 was caught on camera and sparked riots after the acquittal of the four officers involved, was found dead in the swimming pool at his Rialto, California, home on June 17, authorities and his fiancee said. He was 47.

King was "in a state of drug and alcohol-induced delirium" and "either fell or jumped into the swimming pool," said the autopsy report released by the San Bernardino County coroner Thursday.

"The effects of the drugs and alcohol, combined with the subject's heart condition, probably precipitated a cardiac arrhythmia and the subject, thus incapacitated, was unable to save himself and drowned," the autopsy summary said. "There is nothing in the history or autopsy examination to suggest suicide or homicide, and the manner of death is therefore judged to be accident..."

Suspicious Package Shuts Down Terminal At Miami International Airport - CBS Miami

Suspicious Package Shuts Down Terminal At Miami International Airport - CBS Miami | READ WHAT I READ | Scoop.it

UPDATE (click pic to watch video)

MIAMI (CBS4) – The bomb squad descended on Miami International Airport Wednesday night after a suspicious package was discovered in one of the terminals.

The bag alerted an airport dog and after three hours, Miami Dade Police found out what was inside.

“We found clothing and personal items,” said Miami-Dade Police Det. Roy Rutland. “At this point, we’re hoping to get MIA back together and passengers back to normal.”

Police found the owner of the bag, a woman who flew Atlanta. When she spoke to investigators she confirmed, the bag was filled with nothing more than her clothes.

That apparent mistake caused police to shut down the H concourse, evacuate 500 people and leave tired passengers waiting to collect their luggage...

Everett died Tuesday at a hospice facility in Colorado. She was on the Hurricanes' roster as a goalkeeper from 2007-09.

Within a year of her diagnosis, she was back on the Hurricanes' practice field and founded the Austen Everett Foundation, which would have athletes spend time with children with cancer and other terminal diseases. Her family intends to keep the foundation going.
