In this video, I have discussed the hardware modifications that I have made to my F250 Arduino based drone. The drone was originally running at 200Hz refresh rate, but now it operates at 400Hz. The flight controller software is my original code based on Joop Brookings code.
In this video series, I will try to post all major hardware and software updates that I can add to my code. So stay tuned!
Continuing ipXchange’s pre-Embedded World content that celebrates the official partners who will be sharing our booth, we are more than proud to announce that Arduino will be showcasing its Portenta C33 board as a top pick from Arduino’s PRO product line.
Drawing from our previous interview with Arduino at Maker Faire Rome 2023, Eamon outlines the key points that make Portenta C33 a great choice when building a connected, industrial-grade product for mass production:
- Renesas Arm Cortex-M33 MCU running at up to 200 MHz - Supports MicroPython and Arduino programming languages - Wi-Fi and Bluetooth LE connectivity with Arduino Cloud compatibility for remote IoT device monitoring and management - Connector and charging circuit for 3.7-V Li-Po battery - Industrial-grade security and certification done for you - Compact 66.04 x 25.40-mm form factor - Castellated pins for surface mount soldiering on automated assembly lines
The Portenta C33 also presents a lower-cost alternative to Arduino’s other Portenta boards while still being compatible with the carrier and expansion boards thanks to the two high-density connectors on the rear side. This enables faster development or deployment with easy physical connectivity to many readily available interfaces, including CAN, SD card, ADC, GPIO, SPI, I2S, I2C, and JTAG/SWD for debugging.
With ample software libraries to get you started – as one would expect from Arduino – the Portenta C33 is a must-see for those who are well-versed in the Arduino ecosystem but are venturing into more demanding builds.
And you can see it on the ipXchange booth at Embedded World 2024 (4A-101), but if you can’t wait, learn more by following the link to the board form below, where you can apply for a sample if you’ve got a suitable commercial project.
In this class we will be using the Sunfounder Raspberry Pi Pico W Keppler Kit. It will make things a lot easier if we are working on identical hardware. the link below is to amazon, and is for the identical hardware I will be using in this entire class.
In this video, I will show you how to use an IR remote with the Raspberry Pi Pico W. I show how to control the neoPixel array using the IR remote, allowing user to select from prewritten displays on the neoPixel. The video will take you through the process step by step. Enjoy!

This is specially designed for burning the bootLoader compatible with Arduino Mega2560 development board. There is no need to connect your board to a computer. Just plug this programmer into the ICSP interface of the Arduino compatible development board to re-burn the BootLoader. It is also suitable for new chips. (Note that ICSP is an online download interface, which requires the chip itself to be working properly before It can be burned. Burning will erase all previous contents of the chip). You need to supply power for your board, when this programmer gets the power at the first time. Onboard indicator LED, one is green and the other is red. They will flash alternately when it is uploading, and the green led will stay on if it is done, otherwise the red led will stay on. Features: - Working voltage: 3.1 - 5.3V - Working current: 10mA(Max) - Which board it can upload bootloader to: compatible with Arduino Mega2560. - Great for batch burning bootloader for Arduino Mega2560.

The objective benefits may be almost nonexistent today, but there is still something satisfying about rowing through the gears in a car with a manual transmission. If that car was made in the past couple of decades, there is a good chance that it has an indicator on the dash to tell you what gear ...

The ubiquitous deployment of Li-ion batteries (LIBs) in more demanding applications has reinforced the need to understand the root causes of thermal runaway. Herein, we perform a forensic simulation of a real-case failure scenario, using localised heating of Li(Ni0.5Mn0.3Co0.2)O2 versus graphite...
-------------------------------------------------------------------- The Devices -------------------------------------------------------------------- The Raspberry Pi 3 runs a 1.2 GHz Quad Core Broadcom BCM2837 64-bit CPU with 1GB LPDDR2 RAM.
The Raspberry Pi 5 runs a 2.4 GHz Quad Core Broadcom BCM2712 64-bit CPU with 4GB LPDDR4 RAM.
-------------------------------------------------------------------- The Benchmarks -------------------------------------------------------------------- 7-Zip - The 7-zip benchmark tests compression and decompression using the LZMA method. Results are shown as a rating in MIPS (million instructions per second). The rating value is calculated from the measured CPU speed and it is normalized with Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (2.4 GHz, 4 MB L2) CPU in 64-bit Windows with multi-threading option switched off. The charted value is the total compression MIPS score.
Sysbench - The sysbench CPU benchmark verifies prime numbers by doing standard division of the number by all numbers between 2 and the square root of the number. Once a number gives a remainder of 0, the next number is calculated.
CPU Blowfish - Blowfish is a symmetric-key 64-bit block cipher
CPU CryptoHash - CrytpoHash is a cryptographic hash function that maps data of arbitrary size (often called the "message") to a bit array of a fixed size (called the "hash" or "message digest"). It is a one-way function, that is practically infeasible to invert, and is used in digital signatures, message authentication and hash functions to index data in hash tables. A Fibonacci sequence is a series of numbers in which each number is the sum of the two preceding numbers, such as 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, etc. This benchmark tests the integer processing ability of a CPU.
CPU Fibonacci - A Fibonacci sequence is a series of numbers in which each number is the sum of the two preceding numbers, such as 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, etc. This benchmark tests the integer processing ability of a CPU.
CPU N-Queens - N-Queens finds a way to place a variable number of queens on a chessboard so that no two queens threaten each other by sharing the same row, column or diagonal. For some reason, the Cortex-A53 which is a simpler in-order processor does better at this benchmark than more complex out-of-order processors like the Cortex-A72 and Core i5, but it is hard to conclude much from this result.
CPU ZLib - ZLib is a software library used for data compression, which is used by the gzip file compression program. This benchmark is memory intensive, so its results will reflect the speed of the RAM.
FPU FFT - Fast Fourier Transforms (FFT) converts a signal to frequencies and vice-versa. It is used in audio digital signal processing and image signal processing, and is an indication how fast a processor can process video in software.
FPU Raytracing - Raytracing is a rendering technique for generating an image by tracing the path of light as pixels in an image plane and simulating the effects of its encounters with virtual objects. Like FFT, this benchmark tests how well the processor deals with floating point numbers (i.e. numbers with decimal points).
