Interfacing an Arduino With a Mouse Sensor (ADNS-3050): 3 Steps

Interfacing an Arduino With a Mouse Sensor (ADNS-3050): 3 Steps | Raspberry Pi | Scoop.it
The ADNS-3050 Optical Mouse sensor was an entry level gaming sensor when it first released. It featured a 2000 CPI resolution and none of the "acceleration" issues found with laser based sensors. A camera first takes a picture of the surface, then a second when it senses movement. The onboard DSP calculates the change in X and Y axis based on the two pictures. In this Instructable we will learn to interface with the sensor and read the Change in X (DELTA_X) and Change in Y(DELTA_Y) values. The sensor itself can be found here: https://www.tindie.com/products/tom10122/adns-3050...And the repository here: https://github.com/Tom101222/Adns-3050-Optical-SensorPSA:There is a small circle of kapton tape on the sensor, don't forget to remove it otherwise you will be wondering why it isn't sensing any movement.

Western Digital might be done making Raspberry Pi hard drive kits

Western Digital might be done making Raspberry Pi hard drive kits | Raspberry Pi | Scoop.it

The Raspberry Pi line of computers are tiny, cheap, and low power devices that can be used for a wide range of purposes. But while each model includes a processor, memory, and some other basic features, you generally need to add your own storage.

For most folks, that means inserting a microSD card. But if you need even more storage space, there are other options... including the WD PiDrive from Western Digital's WDLabs division.

But I'm hearing that Western Digital may have shut down WDLabs, which means it's not clear how long you'll be able to buy a PiDrive or other WDLabs products.

Arduino Fingerprint Sensor Tutorial: 6 Steps (with Pictures)

Arduino Fingerprint Sensor Tutorial: 6 Steps (with Pictures) | Raspberry Pi | Scoop.it
Dear friends welcome to another tutorial! Today we are going to build an interesting Arduino project which is using a fingerprint sensor module. Without any further delay, let’s get started!I always wanted to try a fingerprint sensor module in order to learn more about its technology and use it in some of my projects in order to add biometric security to them. In order to demonstrate a simple use of the sensor a built this simple project. I have hooked up the sensor to an Arduino Nano, and I also use the small but very fast 1.44 inch color TFT display. The project asks for a valid fingerprint in order to unlock. When I place my finger on the sensor, it recognizes my finger, turns the fingerprint icon green and it welcomes me. If my girlfriend places her finger on the sensor, it also recognizes her, and displays a welcom

COIN SPLITER AND COUNTER: 6 Steps (with Pictures)

COIN SPLITER AND COUNTER: 6 Steps (with Pictures) | Raspberry Pi | Scoop.it
Nowadays automation plays a major role in every field which reduces manpower and increases efficiency. This project deals with the separating of coins and currency and counting the total amount of coins. More number of Indian temples has donation boxes. Separation and calculation of currency and coins that are inserted into the donation boxes need more human intervention. Nowadays these processes completely depends on human hands. It requires more time and man power to separate and to calculate coins and currency. This project adapts automation for this time-taking process. Thus making the process more fast and accurate.

Weather Forecast Cloud: 10 Steps (with Pictures)

Weather Forecast Cloud: 10 Steps (with Pictures) | Raspberry Pi | Scoop.it
This project makes a weather cloud using a Raspberry Pi Zero W. It connects to the Yahoo Weather API and depending on the forecast for the next day changes colors. I was inspired by the Wisconsin Gas Building that has a flame on the roof that changes depending on the forecast. Its an iconic landmark in Milwaukee, WI. The following poem goes with it.When the flame is red, it’s warm weather ahead! When the flame is gold, watch out for cold! When the flame is blue, there’s no change in view! When there’s a flickering flame, expect snow or rain!I thought a cloud would look nicer on the wall. For the code if the forecasted high for the next day is greater than 10% warmer it will be red, if the forecasted low is more than 10% colder it will be gold. But just in case both criteria are met the color re

Decorative DC12V Spotlights: 6 Steps (with Pictures)

Decorative DC12V Spotlights: 6 Steps (with Pictures) | Raspberry Pi | Scoop.it
Objective : - We wanted to have four decorative 12V DC Spotlights blink randomly in different patterns for our display window. Probably, it would have been easy to buy something like this off the shelf but then, that would be no fun and I also wanted to make some constructive use of the Atmega8 Chips that I had lying around from my earlier projects. Since the project came out the way it was expected, I thought I’d share my experience with you.First thing I wanted was to have a relay board that would not make the continuous clicking sound that mechanical relays make. It can be quite annoying the clicking sound from those relays, so I wanted to use Mosfets instead of the mechanical relays
