To Hug or Not?

To Hug or Not? | Random Life | Scoop.it
If you spend any time on Facebook you’re going to see the pictures – people hugging their dogs, kissing their dogs, lounging on their dogs, even kids riding dogs.  The human faces are all aglow with rapturous bliss.  More often than not, however, ...

The Shiba Inu is not hard to read: "Don't hug me, no kisses. Just feed me and rub my belly when I ask". :)

The Best Balcony: San Francisco Elks Lodge #3 Restores a Historic Treasure - ARG Conservation Services, Inc. | Random Life | Scoop.it
In June 2013, The San Francisco Elks Lodge #3 restored architectural unity to the row of iconic 1920s and 1930s building around historic Union Square.
Tina Shakour's insight:

In that catagory of my "other life" as an Elk and member of the BPOE, this happened earlier this year. It's hard to explain the pride we felt after decades of an ugly tarped "thing" being on the front of our building!

Rwanda - Food and Drink for the Tourist - Tina in Wonderland

Rwanda - Food and Drink for the Tourist - Tina in Wonderland | Random Life | Scoop.it
Part of the travel experience for me is eating and drinking. Food is such an intimate part of a region’s culture that I’m happy to try just about anything (I do have some limits). Most traditional Rwandan food is simple: rice, stews of vegetables, meats are typically goat or beef meat, starches like cassava, potatoes …

The Open-Office Trap

The Open-Office Trap | Random Life | Scoop.it
A growing body of evidence suggests that the open office undermines the very things that it was designed to achieve.
Tina Shakour's insight:

Personally I am easily distracted by visual and audio events. Open offices have always been an epic fail for me. I hope this is one trend that goes away soon - or - employers support a more flexible work system (work from home, provide more private rooms for focus time, etc).

Techbrats Goldberg, Shih and Gopman do not represent technology

Techbrats Goldberg, Shih and Gopman do not represent technology | Random Life | Scoop.it
In 20 or 30 years, what will we look back on and say “That was the issue of our time?"I ask hyper-intelligent people this question from time to time, and the answers are frequently similar:
Tina Shakour's insight:

Jason isn't pulling punches here, but I don't think he should. The sheer attitude of some of the "techbrats" is over powering. Mix in comments about women who wear heels being "brainless" and you've got a very negative image taking shape and dominating the view.

San Francisco Elks Lodge Shows Support for Veterans with Meals and More | Random Life | Scoop.it
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) November 12, 2013 -- The order of Elks has a long history of helping Veterans; and on Sunday November 10, 2013 the San Francisco Elks Lodge extended that history with two events to honor those who have served our nation.
