European Olympic Committees (EOC) president Patrick Hickey has insisted that the new European Games concept will not compete with the Olympics for athletes or commercial revenue when it makes its debut in Baku in 2015. The EOC voted last weekend to approve the long-running bid to establish a European Games, with the Azerbaijani capital the only bid received for the inaugural event, which is intended to be a testing ground for the concept.
