Music streaming service MOG has announced that it is adding a free, advertising-supported subscription plan. The move, which is almost certainly a response to the recent U.S. launch of Spotify, is designed to attract more people to the service's 11 million song library of all-you-can-stream music.Previously, MOG was only available in one of two paid "premium" flavors. European sensation Spotify launched in the U.S. with two premium tiers as well, but crucially included a free subscription service with ads and some modest limitations on streaming. Spotify picked up 1.4 million American users in its first few weeks.
Hardly a week goes by in which we don’t get a pitch for a site that aggregates and filters music videos to serve up streams of personalized entertainment. The latest entrant is VHX.tv’s Music Video Genome, which launched last weekend.
The site allows users to enter the name of an artist and then simply press play. Musicvideogenome.com immediately queries Last.fm to get recommendations for similar artists and then builds a playlist of YouTube videos based on those recommendations. The result is a personalized music video stream that works in a similar fashion to Pandora’s radio streams.

The data reveals that video music channels Vevo (60.6 million viewers) and Warner Music (30.9 million viewers) assumed the top two positions. Gaming channel Machinima ranked third with 17.7 million viewers, followed by Maker Studios with 10 million, Demand Media with 8.4 million and Revision3 with 6.6 million.
