Roberto Bogge's insight:
World’s largest biogas plant inaugurated in FinlandThe plant’s operator, Vaskiluodon Voima, said it would also help create hundreds of new jobs in the region.

Built near an existing coal-fired power plant in Vaasa, central Finland, the 140 MW biomass gasification factory is expected to cut coal use by up to 40 per cent.

Fuelled mainly with wood residue from Finland’s large forestry sector, the plant is expected to reduce carbon-dioxide emissions by 2,30,000 tonnes a year while providing both heating and electricity for Vaasa’s approximately 61,000 residents.

The plant’s operator, Vaskiluodon Voima, said it would also help create hundreds of new jobs in the region.

V3Solar Spin Cell = 8 Cents/kWh? (CleanTechnica Exclusive) | R.E.S Renewable Energy Sources | Scoop.it
Quite frankly, if the company's numbers are correct, this could be the biggest solar news of the decade.
Roberto Bogge's insight:
“Using specialized lensing and a rotating, conical shape, the Spin Cell can concentrate the sunlight 30X onto one sun mono PV with no heat degradation. This increases the Power Density while lowering the Total Cost of Ownership and Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE), which is estimated to be $.08/kWh for the Spin Cell.”

One Step Closer to Hydrogen Production from Photoelectrochemical Water-Splitting « Berkeley Lab News Center | R.E.S Renewable Energy Sources | Scoop.it
Roberto Bogge's insight:

In the quest to produce an environmentally benign renewable fuel, scientists have explored many techniques to split water molecules to produce hydrogen. Still, the current photovoltaic designs are not yet technically or economically viable. Materials research in this area has been promising, but research on the engineering design of these photoelectrochemical systems has been sparse.
