earthdog58's curator insight, March 3, 7:44 PM

As  non-Catholic, I don't really believe in the concept of the Papacy.

However, Pope Francis an ordinary human being - and for any leader that is important. Too many religious and political leaders in the world have the unfortunate habit of believing that they are better than the rest of us, that they know more, are above the petty lives of mere mortals.

Francis is not like that - he is one of us plebs (albeit an extremely intelligent and gifted pleb). And if we have to have a Pope, than he is the kind of Pope we should have - a man who reminds people daily that the essential Christian message is one of compassion.

Now - how can we get a better class of politician?
