Mitchell is a Personal Trainer | Quest 2 - OHS in the workplace - Extended to Quest 3 | Scoop.it
Taylor McKercher's insight:

Mitchell is a personal trainer and trains lots of different people. He has to make sure each person has a training routine that they can manage and will not get hurt doing. He is in charge of others safety and needs to take that into account when doing up training sessions. Each exercise has its own risks.

Handling of equipment must be done correctly and patrons must not come into contact with the equipment when being used by someone else. Possible injuries include back and shoulder strains and sprains, injuries to feet if weights are dropped.

UV Radiation if working outside: employees have to be conscious of how long they are working outside with clients as UV radiation can cause sunburn and skin cancer.

Contact with the public can lead to abuse, assault and robbery. Employers must arrange for an emergency response by management to assist in this matter.

At Mitchell's work there are a lot of risk management steps put in place to insure that his clients health and safety is not at risk

Jack is an Apprentice Marine Fitter and Turner

Jack is an Apprentice Marine Fitter and Turner | Quest 2 - OHS in the workplace - Extended to Quest 3 | Scoop.it
Taylor McKercher's insight:

Jack deals with a lot of heavy machinery including two CNC Lathes that are used to make propellors and shafts.

When using a CNC lathe Jack needs to insure that the area is clean and the lathe bed is free from swarf (debris) . The equipment needs to be inspected before use and required tools are easy to reach.

Jack has to wear appropriate safety protection including safety glasses and gloves to insure no metal goes in his eyes or hands.

He has to make sure he has the appropriate materials and drawings so that he could safely undertake his task.

The work area has to be clear, clean and no one else is around the machine.

Machinery can be quite noisy and as a result employees may be affected and develop loss of hearing. Ear plugs are a safety device that will reduce the effect of the noise.

Steel capped boots are need when working with machinery. This is to insure that if something falls the boots take the impact.

At Jack's work many safety features are implemented to insure everyones health and safety.
