23andMe CEO and Founder Anne Wojcicki 23andMe, the Google-backed personal genetics startup, will no longer just sell tests to consumers, or genetic data to pharmaceutical companies. This morning, it announced that it plans to start inventing medicines itself (...)

The researchers working with Apple, too, believe that that company’s new research tools can change the way medical science advances, making patients more involved.

Olivier Janin's insight:

This sounds like an evidence to me. The connected digital health can sense millions of drug consumers and will allow u to calculate from wide-scaled clusters  the adapted tailor-made medication at individual level.

Ubisoft's therapeutic video game Dig Rush treats 'lazy eye'

Ubisoft's therapeutic video game Dig Rush treats 'lazy eye' | UX-UI-Wearable-Tech for Enhanced Human | Scoop.it

Ubisoft, the maker of games like Assassin’s Creed, and healthtech startup Amblyotech have teamed up to create Dig Rush, a therapeutic video game that can help treat a condition known as “lazy eye.” With “lazy eye,” patients see out of one eye instead of two.

The title from the French game publisher is part of a trend of “games for health,” or those that can be used to treat health problems, and it is being unveiled today at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. Its creators say that the treatment is 90 percent effective, and it takes only four to six weeks to retrain your brain to use both eyes instead of one eye, based on clinical testing.

Olivier Janin's insight:

Congrats !

Richard Platt's curator insight, March 5, 10:13 PM

Amblyopia, or “lazy eye,” is where one eye dominates a person’s vision to the point where they don’t have much depth perception and see life effectively through a single eye. The condition affects 3 percent of the population, or about 9 million people in the U.S.

ChemaCepeda's curator insight, March 6, 11:18 AM

You're the CEO, the boss, the queen bee. And getting what you want out of your worker bees looks increasingly linked to how happy said worker bees are. You ask them how things are going. Send out surveys. But what you really want is stats, a 0-100 system of how happy the worker bees…

Olivier Janin's insight:

I am surprised by the type of patterns recognition algorithms they embed in this badge. Their B2B offer (€700 per employee) gives a good price point reference to this type of proposal.

How Does the FDA Regulate Mobile Medical Apps?

How Does the FDA Regulate Mobile Medical Apps? | UX-UI-Wearable-Tech for Enhanced Human | Scoop.it
Last month, the FDA released new guidance regarding the regulation of mobile medical apps, to replace its earlier version from 2011. Since that time, the amount of health and medical apps on the market has exploded, with the release of Apple's Health app with iOS 8 cementing mobile health as 'a thing'. Needless to say, it is about time for a regulatory update.
Olivier Janin's insight:

I have been following the FDA regulation for 4 years, and it is dynamically adapting to the Technology run. It is a great example on how Legalists can regulate such disruptive technological innovation. Much faster than in Europe. Please France, accelerate !

Olivier Janin's insight:

Off course the Apple Watch may still offer a disruptive approach on the Smartwatch innovative segment (we hope so), also embedding Activity tracking features thanks to the Accelerometer and the dedicated App on the iOS Ecosystem.

But the lack of HR sensing tech (it seems that Apple went from PPG tech to bio-impedance solution), GSR feature, Temperature measurement, makes the value proposal under my expectations.

If these are not essential to the MVP ? I'm not sure. But being an iconic Apple product, there are great chances that Apple succeed to sell its 5 Millions units to the brand raving fans.

For me, I am not sure to engage from this first version.
