E3 2012: A Closer Look at Wii Fit U's "Fit Meter"

E3 2012: A Closer Look at Wii Fit U's "Fit Meter" | Experiential Tech that augment Human | Scoop.it

Unveiled during the E3 Nintendo Press Conference and on the Booth, the FitMeter embeds an accelerometer, an altimeter and an atmospheric pressure sensor, what is a breakthrough within the actual QS devices market.

I am impatient to test this Nintendo device and the related UX as it brighlty predicts the type of workhouts done and offers a accurate calculation of the effort.

"Wii Fit and Wii Fit Plus have combined to move over 43 million copies over the past four years, many of them purchased right alongside the Wii itself by converts stepping into system ownership just so they can drop some pounds. If Nintendo can make that happen again, the Wii U could get a huge holiday season and New Year's resolution boost thanks to Wii Fit U and its new Fit Meter." (IGN)

Google Fit Platform Promises More Accessible Fitness Data, Multiple Partners Have Already Signed On | Experiential Tech that augment Human | Scoop.it

The new Google Fit Platform is a set of cross-platform APIs that developers can use to provide consumers with the means to better keep track

Olivier Janin's insight:

Google follows the path Apple openned 2 weeks ago with HealtKit introduction at WWDC.

For both of them, to make the digital health eco-system viable, the challenge is :

- to gather aspirational brands and partners who are already collecting big datas

- to convince the end-users that it is usefull (and safe!) to share their private and personnal datas

- to interest and allow developers to easy access these datas flows, so that they can create  innovative displays and UX, and sustain meaningful insights for the users.

Did Apple just iTune-ize your personal health data? | Experiential Tech that augment Human | Scoop.it
With Apple's new "Health" platform, e may have just witnessed the birth of an ecosystem that follows a similar model to that of iTunes.
Olivier Janin's insight:

There are lots of questions which remain to be clarified. Anyhow, it is just exciting !

1/ how will Apple define his 3rd party approval process regarding to the FDA Mobile Health clearance ? Will it be mandatory or not ? Nike Fuel is not a Medical device as I know.

2/ Will Apple  point out in Health UI the  difference between Health App and Fitness-Wellbeing ones ?  I attended  Craig presentation at WWDC on Monday ; didn't he make a difference between HealthKit (as a 3rd Party aggregator), and Health as a Medical-Linked Service related to Mayo Clinic ?

3/ Regarding the Dashboard, the challenge will be to design an UI which offer enough granularity and sensible relationship between Datas to make them insightful for the end-user.  I love this challenge, and I am impatient to get into it !
