These Fascinating New Nanobots Seek Out And Destroy Cancerous Tumors

These Fascinating New Nanobots Seek Out And Destroy Cancerous Tumors | UX-UI-Wearable-Tech for Enhanced Human | Scoop.it
Whether they're sneaking between cells or turning cockroaches into living 8-bit computers, nanobots are insanely fascinating. Now, they're about to become an army of impossibly small weaponized robots, swarm into the human body, hunt down malignant tumors and destroy them once and for all.
Olivier Janin's insight:

Let's design and develop a engaging FPS (first person shooter) which could involve me to control the Nanorobots in real time. Such a power to fight my own tumors would have the positive psychological impact of gaming, and hopefully increase the speed of my remission.

LG's G Watch was one of the first Android Wear devices to hit the market, but it didn't quite capture the fancy of the buying public the way the beautiful, round Moto 360 did. So LG went back to  to work, and came up with a beautiful, round smartwatch of its own.

Test of "Spire", that tracks and helps you to improve your Breathe | UX-UI-Wearable-Tech for Enhanced Human | Scoop.it
A wearable device that tracks us where we actually are most of the time: In front of the computer and forgetting to breathe correctly.
Olivier Janin's insight:

Spire detects and calculate my breathing pattern thanks to physical kinetic sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope).  I am impatient to test the device, as I wonder how accurate this could be, without any physiological signals like Heart-Rate or dedicated sensors like chest strap.

New Kinect for Windows offers increased accuracy to healthcare startups | UX-UI-Wearable-Tech for Enhanced Human | Scoop.it
The new Kinect, the second generation of Microsoft’s motion capture camera technology, has been making healthcare headlines for nearly a year now as a few select companies were able to tinker with prototypes. The version of the device that was connected to the Xbox One gaming console was made available back in November. But starting tomorrow, Kinect for Windows version 2 will be available commercially, complete with a software development kit (SDK) for developers.

Apple Has Considered $400 Price for Wearable Device

Apple Has Considered $400 Price for Wearable Device | UX-UI-Wearable-Tech for Enhanced Human | Scoop.it
Apple's high-end wearable will be among the most expensive of the category.
Olivier Janin's insight:
The Apple wearable should be priced at $400 and shipped from 2015. iWatch is not the definitive name. I guess Apple will arrive with an innovative name which must succeed in defining its vision on the new segment it will create (much more than a watch if Apple succeed in concretizing Tim Cook's vision).IDC forecasts the wearable market at 19 millions units this year, and predicts a 112 millions units sold in 2018.

Apple Bets IPhone Magic Will Spill Over to Wearables

Apple Bets IPhone Magic Will Spill Over to Wearables | UX-UI-Wearable-Tech for Enhanced Human | Scoop.it

Apple will introduce a wearable gadget along with new iPhones on Sept. 9, a person with knowledge of the plans said. Notices for the event, which will also take place in Cupertino, were sent out yesterday.

Apple declined to comment beyond the e-mailed invitation, which said: “Wish we could say more.”

While companies such as Fitbit Inc. and Jawbone have made some headway introducing wearables to the public, global sales of the activity trackers hit just 13.6 million units last year, according to researcher Parks Associates. That’s about the number of iPhones Apple sells in a month, giving Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook room to boost the size of the market.

The new device also will give the clearest sign yet of where the company is headed without Steve Jobs at the helm. Cook, who took over almost three years ago to the day, has been under pressure to show that the company will continue to deliver breakthrough products.

“How he’s perceived in the next few years will be decided in the next four months,” said Gene Munster, an analyst at Piper Jaffray Cos., who has the equivalent of a buy rating on Apple’s stock.

Olivier Janin's insight:

The invitations received yesterday by the press confirm that Apple will introduce the new iPhone 6 on September 9th in Cupertino.

The tone of the invitation keeps the rumors alive about the announcment of the awaited iWatch.

The Convergence of Medical and Consumer Health Apps

The Convergence of Medical and Consumer Health Apps | UX-UI-Wearable-Tech for Enhanced Human | Scoop.it
“ Consumer healthcare apps linked to smartphones or wearable devices are growing in popularity, and forthcoming offerings from Apple and Google are likely to draw more attention to the field. These systems allow users to monitor a range of information—heart rate, calories burned, distance walked—but they don’t guarantee a change in behavior, much less an improvement in health.”
