Basis, the SF start-up which released its well-manufactured and accurate Watch (B1) in 2013, has been bought by Intel last Spring. They now release their 2nd iteration which seems to even better integrate more powerful components.  Owning a Basis B1, I can tell you how the automatic workout detection (walking, biking, running, sleeping) is a key feature compared to other trackers on the market.

You can now sync wirelessly (BT) your Basis Wristband directly with your iPhone or you iPad. 

The App has no other features than the sync for the moment. But the the job is well done.

Basis is used to deliver qualitative assets.

Intel has won the Basis auction, we're hearing, at a price of around $100 million, according to one source. A second source pegs the deal at closer to $150..

Basis makes wristwatch health trackers, capturing 7 percent of the market versus competitor Jawbone’s 21 percent. As Intel was all about the wearables this year at CES, we’re assuming that this buy is an attempt to further its foothold (wristhold?) in the space.
