"Obsession with the semiotic erosion of meaning and reality led me to create objects that evangelize their own relevance by a direct fusion of word and form. Books (many culled from dumpsters and thrift store bins) are lovingly vandalized back to life so they can assert themselves against the culture which turned them into debris." - Robert The 1995

"Andy Adams of Flak Photo asked me to weigh in on the 'Future of Photobooks' conversation initiated by Livebooks. Most of what I've read on this topic has centered on technology and it's impact on the process and distribution of photography books. Technology has lowered the barrier to entry and the Internet has changed the distribution model, but does this represent a significant advancement of the concept?"

"The Guardian was brave enough last Friday to jump into the murky waters of rare book price speculation. In an interesting, if a tad optimistic, feature on collecting photobooks, the author, Mr. Dewar, discusses photobooks as a potential investment source. Mr. Dewar references the recent spike in photobook prices and offers some tips to would-be photobook investors looking to start their first collection. [...]"

La Lettre de la Photographie offers daily coverage of everything photographic, from top-notch photo reportages to photographer profiles; from exhibitions to shows, prints, fashion, publications, fairs, adver- tising, auctions, and more.
The long, boozy lunches and smoke-filled parties are now part of publishing's past, but has rigorous line-by-line editing of books been lost too, a casualty of the demands of sales and publicity?

As the discussion continues about the rise of digital publishing and the role of print books, the quality and longevity of print hardcover books becomes more important than ever. When readers choose print, they choose permanence.

Crowdbooks marries the power of crowd-funding with a passionate community of artists to create a revolutionary new platform for Photo/ Art books. This model will merge talented photo artists and passionate supporters of the arts with a quality-focused independent publisher. The innovative concept behind Crowdbooks makes it stand out as the first-of-its-kind crowdfunding option that sees an idea through from its inception to publication. While the concept of crowdfunding is not unique and has grown in recent years, Crowdbooks offers a completely new element to this established model. Other venues step out once funds are secured, yet Crowdbooks steps in and sees the projects through the final stages of design and distribution. Each project is created with an intense focus on craftsmanship, quality and an eye for detail. Handmade production methods are often employed, insuring each book is itself a work of art. Additionally, Crowdbooks offers the know-how of large publishing firms juxtaposed with the dedication of individual artists and talented teams focused on the success of each project. Please don’t hesitate to visit our website and share your comments and suggestions! Thanks ! Stefano Bianchi, Founder & CEO.

"Flying Fish Press was established in 1987 by internationally known book artist and book art educator Julie Chen. Working together again after almost a decade (Ode to a Grand Staircase, 2001), Glimpse is a new collaboration between Barb Tetenbaum and Julie Chen inspired by a conversation about how a person translates their life experience into a narrative form: prominent events may stand out as the nameable moments, yet it is the space between these events that life, in fact, is lived."

"fototazo has asked a group of 50 curators, gallery owners, blog writers, photographers, academics and others actively engaged in photography to pick two photographers that deserve (more) recognition - the underknown, the under-respected as well as not-appreciated-enough favorites. A little more information on the project is available in the first post in the series here. Today we continue the series with responses from Stefano Bianchi." See also http://www.gianlucatamorri.com/
