So, I decided to write an article that highlights some important basics.

The Art of Color Coordination

Such a helpful infographic. Beyond helpful for web design.

Via Martin (Marty) Smith, Brian Yanish - MarketingHits.com
Judith Steele's insight:

Good article - in teaching moods/styles in business writing, I sometimes have the students take a personality test with MyersBriggs and then use one of the "short" color choices exercise (plenteous on the web), and usually they find the results about even.  Strange thing it is. I think color can be overly stimulating too, in marketing. I went into an accessories store recently and was completely blown away by the huge counters of color-coordinated fashion jewelry and clothes. For example, I was looking for some pink earrings, and there was a whole round display of nothing but pink items. But there was so much, I couldn't choose. I think people who are a little ADD can be overly stimulated by too much color.

The Impact of Digital Tools on Student Writing

The Impact of Digital Tools on Student Writing | PW articles | Scoop.it

These teachers see the internet and digital technologies such as social networking sites, cell phones and texting, generally facilitating teens’ personal expression and creativity, broadening the audience for their written material, and encouraging teens to write more often in more formats than may have been the case in prior generations.  At the same time, they describe the unique challenges of teaching writing in the digital age, including the “creep” of informal style into formal writing assignments and the need to better educate students about issues such as plagiarism and fair use.

Interesting article highlighting confusion between formal and informal writing when using digital tools. On a positive note, students benefit from being able to see each others' work and collaborate online.

Sarah Peterson's comment, October 1, 2013 6:27 AM
This article was very fascinating. It talked about the impact of technology on student writing. I thought this was interesting because there are so many ways now that students can write on the computer. For example our school now has 1:1 laptops so we use technology more often now. I thought it was interesting how they also talked about how the technology can create some bad writing habits though. This article was great and I would encourage students and teachers to read it.

How Technology Has Changed Our Idea of ‘Knowledge,’ and What This Means for Schools

How Technology Has Changed Our Idea of ‘Knowledge,’ and What This Means for Schools | PW articles | Scoop.it

The fact that knowledge is no longer fixed, but constantly evolving, and the speed at which new knowledge appears online have contributed to our sense of “information overload,” Weinberger said. And that leads to another way that our evolving sense of knowledge is transforming how we learn: We must learn to accept that true mastery is impossible.
