Intersting view on the implications of key trends and what to look out for.

1. From social everything to being smart socially is about the rise of niche networks, companies being socially smart

2. Information security: The genie is out of the bottle - Is just scary and it is unclear how we will respond to this scrutiny of our lives on every level.

3. Who needs shops anyway? - The end of bricks and morter, the emmerging sharing economy and a pop up world. Especially like the sound of STORY a shop in NY that is like a magazine and changes completley every 4-8 weeks.

4. Redistributing the Industrial revolution - Complex global value changes are being redistributed.Look out for crowd funding innovation

5. Hubonomics: New face of globalisation - regional trade hubs, innovation hubs and co working spaces. As a user of the latter I can so see its potential for collaborative, innovative and stiumulating environments to work.

Quantify How Much Time Your Company Wastes

Quantify How Much Time Your Company Wastes | Skilful Collaboration | Scoop.it
Businesses should pay as much attention to internal data as they do to customer analytics.
Helen Bryant's insight:

Data that shows how much time is wasted by inefficient working. The answer is surprise, surprise...lots!

Look for indicators of wasted time. The example they give here is thought provoking. It takes at least 30 minutes to do "thoughtful" work - it takes 15 minutes to return to a productive state after a disruption. After normal disruptions (meetings, email, phone calls, hallway conversations etc) a 2 hour block equates to 1 hour of productive work.

Lean Goes Better with Coke – the Future of Corporate Innovation

Lean Goes Better with Coke – the Future of Corporate Innovation | Skilful Collaboration | Scoop.it
In 2012 I got together with Alexander Osterwalder, Henry Chesbrough and Andre Marquis to think about the Lean and the future of corporate innovation. We had some radical thoughts how companies were...
Helen Bryant's insight:

Excellent post from Steve Blank on the future of corporate innovation and its link to entrepreneurship.

Essentials to success:

1. Create new set of businesses by inventing new business models

2. Most of these should be created outside the existing ones

3. The exact form of new business models is not known at the beginning it emerges

4.  Lots will fail - maybe 1 in 10, will be like having a portfolio of businesses like a hedge fund.

5. Needs stable innovation funding, new organisation structures, different people capabilites (Starters not scalers) and new culture and behaviours (collaborative)

Having left the coprotate world for a start up these are lessons I have learned in earnest. However in the corporate world I had little time to think about it. A whole new  leadership perspective is urgently required.  In the relentlessness of delivering the short term how many leaders are giving this adequate thought and planning?
