The Science Behind Storytelling And Metaphors - Use Them to Become a More Powerful Speaker

The Science Behind Storytelling And Metaphors - Use Them to Become a More Powerful Speaker | Public Speaking and Presentation Skills | Scoop.it
Many studies show us that our brains prefer storytelling to facts.

When we read facts, only the language parts of our brains work to understand the meaning. When we read a story, the language...
Christian Wasinger, CMO - Chief Mind Officer's insight:

In NLP and Hypnosis we use a lot of stories and metaphors  as a teaching tools. Individuals may not see their challenges or the solution to them, but metaphors can help them easily discover those.

The subconscious mind is programmed and responds to language, imagination, and emotion. Imagination I would have to say is at the fore front of it all, and is especially used in advertising and sales.

Watching a sad movie --which is nothing but a story or metaphor-- you may find yourself crying. Why? The subconscious mind doesn't know the difference between reality and imagination, and responds to the story/metaphor as if it were real.

TV commercials will also use stories and metaphors that will cause you to feel a certain way in the hopes to buy the product, because it either makes you feel or good, or because you will feel good once you have the product.

Stories and metaphors are extremely powerful teaching tools. What stories and metaphors are you using to sell your product, service, ideas, or even yourself? If you want to be a good public speaker you must include metaphors and stories into your talk. People may not remember what they had for lunch yesterday, but they still remember a story or metaphor they heard years ago.

People will remember stories and metaphors for years, and if it was presented by you, and/or about you and your product that means they will remember you and your product for years. That is a good thing, isn't it?

Make stories and metaphors not only good, but great, or if you would like to follow my foot steps make  them hypnotic and mesmerizing.

5 Tips to Reduce the Fear of Public Speaking

5 Tips to Reduce the Fear of Public Speaking | Public Speaking and Presentation Skills | Scoop.it
5 tips for reducing presentation nervousness
Christian Wasinger, CMO - Chief Mind Officer's insight:

This blog has some great tips on helping with the fear around public speaking.

One of the tools I share with my clients, is what I do when I have speaking engagement. I have changed my beliefs around them, and my expectations. My new attitude when speaking is that I simply share information that I believe in, that is working for me, and has worked for many whom I have given the advice, or who have undergone hypnosis in my office to help them overcome their fear.

I no longer take responsibility in what the audience does with the information that I am presenting. I have no control whether they like or apply what I am sharing with them. Just think of all the self-help books and seminars go to, without them ever applying the learned.

As a speaker all I can do is to share the information and knowledge that I have, and my best to motivate and inspire others to step into their power.

For those who have an actual phobia of public speaking now logic wisdom will help them, as their phobia is not a rational logic thing. The phobia is caused by the subconscious mind. They have never consciously decided to have this fear, therefor using the conscious mind to get rid of the fear usually does not work.

This is where hypnosis comes in, as hypnosis reaches people's subconscious where the problem is rooted. I have successfully helped countless people who have been avoiding public speaking for years to get over their fear using NLP and Hypnosis. I have even worked with CEO's that have been in that position for years, who have become extremely creative in avoiding public speaking for years.

If you would like to learn more on how to overcome that fear, or if you are company that would like for me to come in, work with your employees, in overcoming their fears, and teach them valuable NLP techniques to improve their presentation skills, go to http://www.thenlpexpert.com/public-speaking-fears-phobias/ and contact me through my website.

The 5 Love Languages®
Christian Wasinger, CMO - Chief Mind Officer's insight:

When working with couples I often notice their frustration because they do not feel loved by their partner.

As most everything I talk about, so does love have to do with the subconscious mind. The feelings of love come up from the subconscious and not the conscious mind.

The interesting thing is that most people have never heard of the 5 Love Languages. There are five ways of how we can show our love to others.

We tend to show our love the way we want to receive it, but what if your partner feels loved differently from the way you do?

We have not consciously chosen our love strategies. They are within our subconscious mind.

If  you are not even aware that there is more than one way to feel loved, take  a look through this website, perhaps even take the quiz to find out more about these five ways of feeling loved, so you can express your love to your partner the way he or she wants to feel it. In turn share how you feel loved and ask for your partner/spouse to express it that way.

Many have told me that had they known about the love languages they could have saved their relationships or marriage.
