« « Il s'agit pour l'instant d'une expérimentation mais ce système unique au monde prouve qu'il est possible de recycler de l'énergie urbaine et donc de développer de nombreuses applications pour la ville », assure Alexandre Marciel, adjoint au maire de Toulouse en charge de l'éclairage public, à l'origine de ce projet. L'enjeu est de taille : 5 mètres de dalles pourraient alimenter à hauteur de 100 watts un lampadaire, soit de quoi éclairer normalement une rue très passante. Avec ce procédé, l'élu estime que la moitié de la consommation de l'éclairage public pourrait être réduite d'ici 2020. »
