Fanta Pouring Big Bucks Into Vine Video Comedy Series

Fanta Pouring Big Bucks Into Vine Video Comedy Series | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

...The first episode of "Fanta For The Funny," which rolls out Friday on CollegeHumor.com and across Fanta's social and digital channels, is comprised of dozens of Vine clips depicting gags and pratfalls from some of the platform's most popular personalities. There's no host of the show, just the brief video clips organized into vignettes around topics. In the first episode, Fanta doesn't actually appear in the Vine videos, though its branding is interspersed several times between segments. The series will run over the course of six weeks.

Brands are increasingly looking to platforms like Vine, a rising social media service owned by Twitter, to promote themselves and their products. On Vine, users post six-second clips, also called Vines. Despite -- or perhaps because of -- these time constraints, Vine has emerged as fertile ground for comedy, with hordes of young people posting humorous clips. Already, companies like General Mills, Ford and Virgin Mobile have tapped Vine stars for their campaigns....

Twitter Drops Huge Hint of E-Commerce Plans

Twitter Drops Huge Hint of E-Commerce Plans | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

The company is testing a dormant menu option that appears to hint that commerce services will be coming soon.

... This is the latest in a stream of hints that Twitter is preparing a foray into commerce. Back in June,Re/Code spotted a “buy now” button that began appearing in tweets with links to retail siteFancy. The same publication previously got its hands on documents that appeared to show commerce plans, while Twitter has been rumored to be working on a deal with payments provider Stripe for some time.

At this point it isn’t entirely clear what Twitter has planned, but the “payment and shipping” option – which appears to be where users would manage their payment methods and enter their delivery address – clearly ties in with other clues....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Stay tuned for e-commerce on Twitter. Like it or not.

A Prominent Early Twitter Investor Says Twitter Should Turn 'Tweet Storming' Into A New Product

A Prominent Early Twitter Investor Says Twitter Should Turn 'Tweet Storming' Into A New Product | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

Fred Wilson, legendary VC and an early investor in Twitter, went on a "tweet storm" Saturday morning about how Twitter should make the tweet storm experience better for users. He sees the emerging trend as a big product and market opportunity for Twitter.

Tweet storms, a concept made popular by investor Marc Andreessen, are like mini-essays: People break up an argument or idea across a handful of different tweets, usually numbering them to make it easier for people who are interested to follow along....

Tweet And Repeat: The Power Of Sharing And Sharing Again

Tweet And Repeat: The Power Of Sharing And Sharing Again | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it
But when it comes to sharing our content on social media, many marketers not only fail to rinse and repeat their shares, they may think they should not do that.Recently I sampled the Twitter shares of 30 different people who were both regular bloggers and regular Twitter users. I took note when they shared one of their own blog posts for the first time on Twitter. Then I monitored their tweets for 30 days. I found that 80% of those people never shared their own content again after the first time....

Twitter as Brand Marketing Tool | Social Media Today

Twitter as Brand Marketing Tool | Social Media Today | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

Is Twitter an effective marketing tool for brands? What sorts of challenges are businesses facing on Twitter? According to a recent survey conducted by SMMU, 40 percent of brands consider Twitter to be an effective marketing tool. Brands face a number of challenges (like building an audience, developing strong content, etc.) using Twitter as a social media marketing tool, with measuring Return-on-Investment being the greatest challenge.

In addition, most brands have not used Twitter's paid services. In fact, some brands were unaware that they were available. Among Twitter features being used on a regular basis, Vine remains underutilized, despite the rise in popularity of video marketing. Check out this infographic for all the findings from the survey....

Twitter May Kill The 'Retweet' — And People Are Freaking Out (TWTR)

Twitter May Kill The 'Retweet' — And People Are Freaking Out (TWTR) | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

The company is currently experimenting with a version that doesn't have a "retweet" function.

Twitter is constantly testing product tweaks. It rolls them out to a small sample of users. It uses the data from their reaction to inform product releases later. People on Twitter who are within the small population of users who are seeing "share" instead of "retweet" are, naturally, freaking out.

(Heavy social media users are, weirdly, extremely conservative when it comes to their user interfaces.)...

Going Facebook-like may not be a smart way to go for Twitter.
