Twitter boosts author credibility with web content links | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

... Twitter users will know their social media content is making a stir when they see links at the bottom of their Tweets, showing which news outlets have embedded their words in web content. This practice was spotted in a recent test by Search Engine Watch.

The study found Twitter is displaying links to websites directly in Tweets. This could be in an attempt to make good on Twitter’s promise to “cut through all the noise on Twitter.”The social network has not made an official announcement about the feature. However, if links roll out for all users, marketers might find it’s easier for their branded content to gain traction on the web because it has more visibility when shared on popular web publications....

Seven tips to help create awesome Vines | Econsultancy

Seven tips to help create awesome Vines | Econsultancy | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

Data from Unruly shows that five Vine clips are shared every second on Twitter and branded Vines are four times more likely to be shared than branded online videos. It’s also interesting to note that weekends are the most popular time to share Vines and in most cases they are more popular than all the previous weekdays combined.

We’ve previously looked at fashion brands and football teams that have begun using Vine, as well as highlighting both good and bad uses of the platform. As with any new technology it’s good to keep experimenting and work out how it can benefit your brand, but there are a few guiding principles that it’s worth considering....

Don't Get Seduced by the Latest Social-Media Gadget | PR News | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

The next shiny new thing in social media isn't necessarily a slam dunk.... Looking at Vine, there are some trends indicating that the Twitter-owned product has established itself as a worthwhile endeavor for communicators.

Unruly recently conducted a study using 10 million Vine submissions as its data set and determined the following:

- An average of 5 Tweets per second contain a Vine link.

- 4% of the top 100 tracked Vines is branded content.

- Weekends are the most popular time to share Vines.

- According to Unruly co-founder, Matt Cook, vines that evoke emotional response are shared most frequently.

On the flip side, Facebook has demonstrated how a new social-media product can land with a veritable thud. The company’s Home app has been described as a “flop,” and many are describing the smartphone home screen app as “too intrusive” and “pushy.”...

Jeff Domansky's insight:

What's a PR/marketing pro to do? There's never a shortage of new technology and tools. The challenge is to pick and choose the right ones, at the right time, for the best results. And to recognize that not every technology or tool works for every company/product/service every time.

Stars like Kim Kardashian are still routinely paid five figures for a single tweet promoting a product, but how else can they carve out a profit from millions of social-media followers?

Luigi Picarazzi is president of Digital Media Management, a 25-person shop in Los Angeles that's dedicated to helping stars answer that question. The company focuses on securing deals with brands to do content integrations on celebrity websites, deals such as Mattel getting a writeup in Felicity Huffman's WhatTheFlicka.com; Vidal Sassoon represented in a Vanessa Hudgens Tumblr post with a #selfie photo of her curls; and Kate Walsh giving tips on running a small business in a post sponsored by financial planning service Learnvest .)

The company also works with an ad-tech vendor called Bre.ad that can show a full-page ad to users upon entering or exiting a site, or from links posted to social-media accounts. B2Bs should Tweet before noon, B2Cs in the evening | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

A study that sets out to identify spam Tweets from real social media content shows marketers how to tune out the noise, but also when to reach their target audiences. The research conducted by Gabriela Tavares and Aldo Faisal of the Imperial College of London discovered that Bots, or fake Twitter accounts, are active through all hours of the day unlike the people managing personal and corporate social media accounts.

According to the findings, which monitored Tweets in a 24-hours period, B2B companies will see the most engagement when they publish social media content during the first half the work day. Tweets peak around 10 a.m. after a sharp activity uptick in the morning, and continue to trend downward throughout the afternoon and into the evening....

How to Use Twitter for Crowdsourcing and Simple Market Research | Social Media Today

How to Use Twitter for Crowdsourcing and Simple Market Research | Social Media Today | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

Having a social media presence can be an invaluable resource for providing insights into consumer needs, sentiment, and opinions towards a business, service or brand. Social media is by no means a replacement for traditional market research, but it can be used in a broader sense. That broader sense is becoming a widely adopted trend referred to as Crowdsourcing.

Crowdsourcing is the act of outsourcing tasks to an undefined, large group of people or community (a "crowd"), through an open call. Twitter is the perfect platform for implementing such a tactic and will often yield insightful, and sometimes surprising, results. Using Twitter to openly ask your followers and the community as a whole has additional benefits. By listening, organizations gain first-hand insight on their customers' desires. You have the option to follow up with your respondents in real time. Plus, because participants are not being led by moderators or necessarily thinking about the expectations for responses, the answers they give can be more genuine and revealing....

Twitter tool lets brands sign up customers inside a tweet

Twitter tool lets brands sign up customers inside a tweet | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

Twitter’s latest ad product provides a call to action right inside a tweet — showing the company is finally creating marketing tools closer to the “bottom of the funnel.” Even as Twitter has grown into a media and marketing giant, not everyone is persuaded that the social media site is useful for selling things. As one marketer recently lamented to me, the platform’s effectiveness is hard to measure — and justify to clients — because “no one’s going to buy a car off Twitter.”

[Update: Twitter says "au contraire" and sent this research] The perception, then, is that Twitter is useful for what the ad types call “top of the funnel” marketing — building brand awareness and so on — but that it has yet to deliver paying customers in the way that GoogleAdwords can.

Today, though, it appears Twitter has responded with a new ad product that will make it easier for brands to assess what they get for their marketing bucks. The product, called a “Lead Generation Card,” lets marketers post expanded tweets that invite users to sign up for stuff right inside Twitter. The company showed what this might look in a blog post describing the product...

Twitter's new tool - Lead Generation Card - is worth exploring. Here's why.
