100 Best Vine Accounts (Viners) of 2015

100 Best Vine Accounts (Viners) of 2015 | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

This is the Vine list to end all Vine lists—the one that actually counts. So far this year DailyTekk has rounded up and ranked the 100+ best Instagrammers, the 100 best YouTubers, the 100 best Pinners and the 100 best blogs and websites of 2015.

Today we conquer curate Vine, the site where people cram as much creativity, humor, information or idiocy into 6-second videos as humanly possible. And I will say this: Viners, you have a very, very unique community. It’s so different than the other social networks I just listed. The amount of effort that you have put into these short videos is nothing short of astounding. Kudos...

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Let this be kind of your guilty pleasure. Sort of like reality TV. Nobody admits they watch it but everybody checks in on it. Some fun, some profound, mostly silly.

How to Calculate Your Content Curation ROI

How to Calculate Your Content Curation ROI | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

As you can see, if you’re having trouble tracking ROI for content marketing, you’re definitely not alone. Only 21% of B2B marketers said they were successful at tracking ROI. Only 23% of B2C marketers said the same.

But don’t let those graphs get you down. And definitely don’t use them as an excuse for not even trying to track ROI. Maybe you’ll never achieve a perfect ROI measurement, but even a rough idea of whether you’re profitable or not is important. It’s especially important if you want to pitch your boss or senior staff for more budget, or maybe even a raise.

There are a lot of ways that ROI calculations can get painfully complex, but it’s better to have a flawed analysis than no analysis at all. Besides, you’re not launching a spaceship based on how perfectly accurate your ROI calculations are. All you really need to know is if you’re profitable or not....

Content Marketing: How To Adapt to the Rise of Big Content.

Content Marketing: How To Adapt to the Rise of Big Content. | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

Last week, Gartner released the results of their study around the 5 top emerging trends in digital marketing, and one of the big 5 is around the “rise of big content”.

Most marketers understand how important content is for their audience and their overall marketing strategy, but they critically lack resources/skills to either create good content or source good content to curate.

The choice of words Gartner used was very wise: we all know “marketers understanding that” does not mean “CEOs understanding that”. So just like most marketers, you might be facing a situation where you and anyone within your company who can and would write has millions of other things to do with deadlines that can’t be pushed.

In my opinion there are three answers you can bring to scale your content marketing and address the challenges created by the rise of big content:...

This is what causes people to purchase. - Jobs To Be Done - Medium

As innovators, we are always chasing that question: What will cause someone to buy?

To get the right answer, you first have to be asking the right questions.Jobs-to-be-done is a theory, developed by Clayton Christensen at Harvard, that helps you ask the right questions.[Note: I’m broadly using the words products to include services and purchase to include “use” in the case of ad supported services and products.]

First let’s start with some examples....

Free Technology for Teachers: Use Sketch Toy to Create Quick Animated Images

Free Technology for Teachers: Use Sketch Toy to Create Quick Animated Images | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it
Recently, I stumbled upon Sketch Toy - a web-based drawing tool and Chrome App that allows you to quickly create and share drawings from any browser.

What makes Sketch Toy different from other tools is the ability to not only draw, but also automatically convert your drawings into step-by-step animations that can be shared with a link. Additionally, anyone who accesses your drawing can then add on to it and generate a new link to share, allowing students to quickly iterate on each others' drawings WITHOUT needing an account!

Sketch Toy also lets you rotate your drawings as 3D models and includes a "vibration" setting which makes your drawings appear slightly animated - much like Squigglevision. You can also drag any image from your desktop onto the screen and incorporate it into your drawing.

Cool tool worth a look for DIY video.

5 Top Tips For Driving a Ton of Free Traffic with Twitter

5 Top Tips For Driving a Ton of Free Traffic with Twitter | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

Twitter has been my secret sauce to building an online brand. It became obvious to me early on that Twitter had the potential to drive traffic to my blog.

So I started growing my followers, tweeting links to my blog and testing different tactics to see what worked and what didn’t. I remember someone saying a few years ago that……”a tweet without a link is a wasted opportunity”.

That made sense to me. So tweets were always sent with a link that took them from Twitter to my digital asset. That was my online portal and blog....

Content Curation: The first step to building influencer relationships for your content strategy - Traackr

Content Curation: The first step to building influencer relationships for your content strategy - Traackr | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

Earlier this year, we decided to work on our next eBook for Scoop.it by doing things differently than in the past. We had done eBooks and white papers in the past and we were proud of the value they delivered: good data, survey results, analysis, etc… But we did them on our own. This time, on top of delivering great content, we did one thing differently: we asked influencers to participate to its content.

The results?

Close to 2x more downloads of our latest eBook and 3x more shares of the blog post introducing it vs our previous ones. Plus a lot more mentions on top industry blogs such as Lee Odden’s TopRank. Nice influencer amplification, wouldn’t you agree?

There are many reasons why influencer amplification works. As Traackr’s Pierre Assayag puts it: rising above the noise is hard – even for established brands – so you need the help of credible, trusted, influential people in your industry....

Want to Make Blog Posts More Engaging? Apply These 15 Tricks | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it
The bad news is that most readers online are barely engaged with what they’re reading. But the good news is that there are plenty of ways to improve engagement, even to the point of getting people to read most of what you write.

There are two primary approaches to improving reader engagement. The first is to make your content scannable. Ie, to work with readers’ existing online reading habits. Second, create content so good that at least some users will actually slow down and take the time to read it word for word.

To make your content scannable, do these seven things:

rodrick rajive lal's curator insight, May 21, 12:41 AM

I have been using Pinterest for almost a year now, and would recommend it to discerning professionals who would like to keep separate boards for different things. Pinterest also helps drive collaborative work as it is more likely that similar minded people will check out your boards and follow them. Added to this is the fact that as Facebook and Twitter become over used, Pinterest is a fresher platform which promotes newness. The advantage of having different boards is that you can file away different stuff in them. Teachers could have one board for lesson plans, another board for infographics, and yet another one for research materials and resources. I would definitely recommend Pinterest to all professionals who want to try something new and refreshing! Happy Pinning!

How to Remove Photo Backgrounds in Photoshop or PowerPoint

How to Remove Photo Backgrounds in Photoshop or PowerPoint | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

You know what one of my biggest design pet peeves is? When I'm trying to design something, but there's an unwanted background on the image I'm using. Either I want to remove the photo background altogether, or I prefer a transparent background so the image assumes the look of any other background I put behind it.

Take the image on the left above, which is from our free, downloadable collection of holiday stock photos. That image would be so much more useful to my call-to-action, SlideShare presentation, blog post, or ebook if I could just remove that pesky background so it looked like the image on the right. Or maybe you've downloaded another one of our collections offree stock photos that could also use a transparent background.

Luckily, there is something you can do about it. Using either Photoshop or PowerPoint, you can easily remove the background of your photo or image in no time. And I'm going to show you exactly how to do it. First, grab an image to practice with....
