Branding Strategy Insider | 6 Influencers Of Brand Prosperity

Branding Strategy Insider | 6 Influencers Of Brand Prosperity | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

There’s an increasing temptation to see technology as the harbinger of hope and hazard.

... So what are the take-aways for strategists? How should we realistically plot futures for our brands that make sense now and yet make allowance for ideas and issues that are often founded but unproven. To me, brand prosperity depends on four actions:

1. Building and maintaining a purposeful, vigorous and curious, values based culture that is motivated to resist revergence.

2. Creating and implementing strategies that cement customer loyalty and generate areas of leadership. I say areas of leadership in the context of marketplaces because I don’t believe that a market leading brand needs to lead in every aspect of that market. It must however own the rights to a clear, sustainable and distinctive direction. “Own the rights” is not about IP. It’s about having permission from consumers to forge ahead with an idea and to take them on that journey.

3. Developing a flexible portfolio of strategies to address potential and actual competitor behavior across the four external forces (divergence, convergence, credence and re-emergence)

4. Funding research and development programs not just to develop product improvements but to look to prepare the brand to leverage emerging technologies and address pending issues in ways that correlate with the brand’s purpose.

LinkedIn walks like a publisher and talks like a publisher. But is it? - Fortune Tech

LinkedIn walks like a publisher and talks like a publisher. But is it? - Fortune Tech | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

The business-focused social network opens its publishing platform to its members, raising lots of questions.

Ryan Roslansky, head of content products for the company, strenuously rejects LinkedIn's media ambitions. Or at least he refuses to address them head on. "We are not approaching this from a publishing or media-company perspective," he told me last week.

The "this" in question is LinkedIn's announcement that it is opening its "publishing platform" to all its 277 million members, beginning with a test group of 25,000. The move essentially means providing a juiced-up blogging tool to LinkedIn users, but with a twist. Blogging sites like Tumblr (owned by Yahoo) or even Medium, the new site run by Twitter (and Blogger) founder Evan Williams, are relative free-for-alls. Post your blog, tell other people about it using social media, and hope someone will see it.

A post on LinkedIn is targeted at the people already in your professional network. "Your LinkedIn identity is your professional profile of record," Roslansky says. Adding the ability to post long-form professional information, he says, "helps to ensure someone can stand out and look better in their career."...

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Walks like a duck and quacks like a duck to me. I say its a publishing strategy.

How To Supercharge Your Coffee To Give You Even More Energy In The Morning

How To Supercharge Your Coffee To Give You Even More Energy In The Morning | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

The old world tradition of adding butter to coffee has recently re-emerged as a performance enhancer embraced by the likes of Bulletproof Executive founder Dave Asprey and holistic health guru Andrew Weil.

Weil asserts that the often demonized saturated fat poses no risk for increased heart disease and may actually help "stimulate the body's fat-burning potential" in addition to boosting creativity and productivity.

Jeff Domansky's insight:

LinkedIn Uses Big Data to Increase Profile Visibility | Social Media Today

LinkedIn Uses Big Data to Increase Profile Visibility | Social Media Today | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it
Who wouldn’t like more LinkedIn profile page views? Thanks to the newly updated “Who’s Viewed Your Profile” section, users can now take advantage of personalized tips aimed at boosting page views. One of the main features that has distinguished LinkedIn from the other major social media platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter, has been the ability to see who has viewed your profile. Now, by tapping into the power of big data, LinkedIn’s new layout for “Who’s Viewed Your Profile” includes impressive analytics and real-time “actionable insights” meant to increase profile visibility and enhance one’s professional brand. Before, users could only see how often their profile was viewed and a list of the most recent users to check out their page. Now, LinkedIn breaks down the data even further, showing the industry viewers work in, the keyword searches that brought them to a profile, how they found a specific user, what regions they live in, what profession they are in and what companies they work for...

The improvements at LinkedIn keep on coming.

This Woman Is Live-Tweeting Her Father's Death Right Now | Business Insider

This Woman Is Live-Tweeting Her Father's Death Right Now | Business Insider | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

Laurie Kilmartin's father is dying of lung cancer.

Diagnosed with lung cancer, Mr. Kilmartin was admitted to hospice on February 20th. Laurie, a comedian and finalist on Last Comic Standing, has been live-tweeting her experience watching her dad die before her eyes.

Kilmartin's tweets hit all of the stages of grief. There's sadness of course. And there's love. And due to Kilmartin's nature, there's humor.

Jeff Domansky's insight:

I'm not sure how to respond. At first I was shocked, then appalled, followed in quick succession by WTH, sadness, sympathy, empathy and ending in laughter. it's courageous. If it's not a publicity stunt.

A lot goes into a great logo design. While a logo seems like just a little thing to create, it represents an entire company or brand, and must convey identity, values, and more. NAA: ‘Print only’ still more than half of newspaper audience even as digital grows | Poynter.

NAA: ‘Print only’ still more than half of newspaper audience even as digital grows | Poynter. | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

My takeaway is similar. The transition to digital and to mobile-only users continues to advance at a rapid pace. Indeed it has probably gone further by now than the studies in Murray’s analysis suggests. The digital audience is younger and newspapers have it in their power, especially as they improve smartphone news products, to speed the growth of that share.

But remaining print readers, described by some as hardcore and by others as geriatric, are slower than I would have thought, to read a newspaper organization’s report in both print and digital. The Scarborough report Murray highlights finds only about 30 percent of a given paper’s audience uses both print and digital (versus 15 percent digital-only and 55 percent print-only)....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Interesting research into newspaper readership and impact of digital.

There continue to be so many choices. New ones are popping up all the time.

Figure out what are your goals and objectives in using these tools?

Who will be using these tools?

How practical are these tools?

When can I set time aside to use these tools?

Will these tools in the long run make me more productive?

Will these tools give me the results me and my team are looking for?

Be clear about your goals and objectives, but be flexible about the process in getting there.
