Fanta Pouring Big Bucks Into Vine Video Comedy Series

Fanta Pouring Big Bucks Into Vine Video Comedy Series | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

...The first episode of "Fanta For The Funny," which rolls out Friday on CollegeHumor.com and across Fanta's social and digital channels, is comprised of dozens of Vine clips depicting gags and pratfalls from some of the platform's most popular personalities. There's no host of the show, just the brief video clips organized into vignettes around topics. In the first episode, Fanta doesn't actually appear in the Vine videos, though its branding is interspersed several times between segments. The series will run over the course of six weeks.

Brands are increasingly looking to platforms like Vine, a rising social media service owned by Twitter, to promote themselves and their products. On Vine, users post six-second clips, also called Vines. Despite -- or perhaps because of -- these time constraints, Vine has emerged as fertile ground for comedy, with hordes of young people posting humorous clips. Already, companies like General Mills, Ford and Virgin Mobile have tapped Vine stars for their campaigns....

Very creative and well targeted!

The Fall of the Banner Ad: A Look at Online Advertising in 2014

The Fall of the Banner Ad: A Look at Online Advertising in 2014 | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

Online advertising has grown exponentially since its foundation in the 90s. Now, online ad sales make up the majority of the industry, and savvy companies are directing the lion’s share of their budgets at the digital space.

Advertising through social media is nothing new, but so far, brands have been playing it safe, using many of the same methods that have already been successful in the past – combining banner- and text-link-style ads in news feeds and sidebars. But the possibilities of social advertising have yet to be fully explored.

The real power comes not from the reach of a company’s network, but from getting that company’s customers to do the outreach FOR them.

Social media is changing the way people view and interact with content online. While the idea of a website “page” has been a vital component in the way people understand the web, the use of feed-based content in Facebook, Twitter and Instagram has changed the concept of what a website IS. ....

What will be the newest thing after native advertising?

WHICH 50 : Amazon's rivals have learnt how to push back

WHICH 50 : Amazon's rivals have learnt how to push back | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

Since it launched two decades ago Amazon has become the world's  “Everything Store”, defined retailing and established itself as a member of the Internet big four. But those early shell shocked retail rivals are fighting back.

A recent L2 intelligence report shows that some retailers have started to “push back” and gain ground at the same time as Amazon’s growth is slowing according to a new report by L2. The evidence suggests that consumers largely prefer in-store pick-up than fast shipping like one-day shipping options.

The authors write, “Retailers have realized the value of their brick-and-mortar locations as fulfilment assets”....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Retail stores start to see the light and compete with Amazon.

Truth Lets You Send Anonymous Texts | TechCrunch

Truth Lets You Send Anonymous Texts | TechCrunch | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

...Over the last few days I’ve been playing with Truth, a similar app for iOS that lets you send anonymous text messages to people in your phone’s contacts.

The interface is a close facsimile of Apple’s default Messages app, so there isn’t much of a learning curve. There is a bit of friction to get started with the app, however: besides the expected popups asking for permission to access your contacts, Truth also makes you register with an email address and password.

...That quibble with the setup process aside, Truth works as advertised. You can choose any contact in your address book to send an anonymous text, and in several tests, messages arrive in about as much time as they would via a regular text. Messages begin with “The truth is” by default, which is meant to inspire compliments or hard truths that might be too awkward to express openly....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Just thinking of the challenges and potential for abuse of such a tool and yet maybe useful for politicians LOL...

Edelman PR Acts to Correct Faux Pas | NY Times

Edelman PR Acts to Correct Faux Pas | NY Times | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

A GIANT public relations agency that has been under fire for a couple of gaffes in the last couple of weeks says it is taking steps to try to make sure such blunders do not recur — the kinds of steps it would recommend to clients in the same predicaments.

“What the leadership team decided,” Ben Boyd, president for practices, sectors and offerings at Edelman in New York, said in an interview on Friday, is that “we will treat ourselves like we treat a client.”

“Lesson learned,” he added.

“Just because you advise clients on the complexities of today’s world, that doesn’t mean they’re easier to manage,” Mr. Boyd said, adding that “it would have been smart” to have had in place at Edelman some of the internal protocols and processes that the agency’s 5,000 employees suggest that clients adopt....

After two recent PR fails, Edelman goes into damage control.

4 Quick Win Strategies For Social Media | Broadsuite

4 Quick Win Strategies For Social Media | Broadsuite | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

....Before I jump into some of the quick wins, I do want to be clear that most short wins won’t translate into revenue. This is especially true as the products and services you offer become more complex. The buyer’s journey of selling through social media tends to closely match the 3D buyer’s journey that often includes multiple meetings and presentations before a purchase is made.

Having said that, if the goal is quick wins and so long as you clearly articulate that most of them are going to be more drivers of visibility than sales, there are some things a company can do to show immediate success with social media. Here are a few examples of some quick wins that can help show the boss the potential of social media....

Many leaders want fast ROI on social media but that isn't always possible. Dan Newman shares strategies for quick wins in social.
