When businesses first start out using social media, there are usually two main problems: getting social media results is a huge one, but when the results don’t materialize, the other is pressure from upper-management or business owners to get results.

How to Create Videos to Capture Your Audience | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

When it comes to marketing strategy, videos are powerful. How powerful? On Facebook, for example, videos are shared 12 times more than non-video posts. And let’s not forget YouTube, the second largest search engine in the world (after Google, of course). The ability of videos to increase user engagement is unsurpassed.

According to YouTube’s statistics page, they get over 800 million unique visitors each month, users view more than 4 billion hours of video each month and upload 72 hours of video every minute. That’s a lot of potential for your video....

What on earth is interactive video? - Kiosked

What on earth is interactive video? - Kiosked | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

Brands can inform, market, help and educate with their online videos and STUDIES show that people who watch videos of brands online are 60% more likely to make a purchase decision. But the possibilities of online video don’t stop there. Think online, think visual, think video and think what if you could do more than just watch the video. That’s it, right there you have interactive video.

Interactive video has been on the RISE lately: digital ads that feature some kind of interactivity leapt from only 2% in January 2013 to 11% in June. Naturally it doesn’t stop there and the numbers are expected to double next year. Forrester defines interactive video as “A type of digital video supporting user interaction through gestures, voice, touch and clicks”.

Let’s pause here because this has huge implications. Consumers can watch branded content and engage with contextually relevant interactive elements. They say that a picture is worth a thousand words but what are those thousand words against 1.8m impressions that one minute of online video generates?...

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Interactive video has marketers' attention, but what is it? Get the picture?

Across the twenty or thirty I’ve scoured in the past day or so, the usual suspects appear. In 2014, we are going to see brands “do more native ads”, “Editorial homepages” and curiously uninformative infographics.

To be blunt: the future of content marketing in 2014 looks exactly like content marketing did in 2013. And 2012. And 2011.

The Huffington Post, in conjunction with parent company AOL, last month published a report which proposed that native advertising is "sponsored content, which is relevant to the consumer experience, which is not interruptive, and which looks and feels similar to its editorial environment".

Perhaps the easiest way to understand it is by looking at a couple of examples, such as the Guardian's 'what to wear on a date' video, sponsored by John Lewis, with clothes featured in the video from the department store, and BuzzFeed's '20 coolest hybrid animals', created for hybrid car Toyota Prius....

It’s safe to say that Big Data is revolutionizing 21st century business. The big question for marketers, however, is how do you take the wealth of information at your disposal and effectively simplify and present it in an engaging and informative way? One answer is infographics.

Defining what entails a good infographic is complex. For one, not all data lends itself to creative and unique visual communication. Someone who’s expert in design may not understand your audience or how to map relevant data in a compelling way. Don’t forget: great content isn’t great until it’s discovered, consumed and shared...

How can publishers and advertisers survive in today's economy?

Only 6% of the 18-24 population read newspapers; the majority of newspaper readers in this country are in their fifties and sixties. Audiences for CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News pull in viewers with a median age of 60 or above, according to media research company Nielsen.Websites like Yahoo News and Huffington Post pull more traffic than CNN.com or The New York Times website. In two years, Buzzfeed (designed to stimulate social media with listicles: "25 Crazy Things...") has nearly tripled its monthly unique visitors, from 4.3 million to 19.3 million.
