When the social network of Pinterest first started in March of 2010, people loved it as a visual place to create their holiday “wish-list” boards. They would create boards of stuff they liked online and would never know where it would lead to.Well, these wish-lists are now becoming a true reality, as Pinterest is becoming both a true e-commerce and brick-n-mortar player!


Back in May, the photo-sharing network began allowing “rich pins”, which allows users to post detailed information about an item, such as the originating image site and product purchase information. Now they are taking it one step further by providing price drop summarized email notifications to its users for photos they pinned.


That can be huge for e-commerce, as Pinterest users spend on average of 14 minutes a session on the social network, an eternity in cyber-space!But, not only is Pinterest leading people to a business website for e-commerce purposes but according to recent data distributed by the Vision Council and Harvard Business Review, 21% of Pinterest users had bought an item in an actual store after pinning, repining or liking the item on Pinterest....

The minute I looked at Pinterest I knew it would be for me.  As a user.  As a marketing tool,that's been a little slower in the making.  This is an interesting piece so do enjoy.  I think a carefully crafted campaign to make use of the goodwill on the channel, giving lots of value and carefully crafted links etc. could in the right hands create a nice little thread to follow.

I remember when pinterest is just starting up. Most of the user would just pin random stuff and ofcourse their personal links without and good graphics or images in the post. Then you can see random un-organized boards as a result of manipulative link building (they say) without any purpose at all. Now online stores have seen the power of pinterest and the ability to organized their product images along with products description and URL, and they have used it for Marketing Purposes. Hope this post will teach other SEO Specialist how to use pinterest the right way.

Pizza Hut is also launching a “Flick Football Challenge” game inviting fans to share videos of their skills for chances to win free pizza from the $5 Flavor Menu.

Sharing phone numbers and offering ads may irk the security-focused service’s users.WhatsApp, which was acquired by Facebook in February 2014, finally made an announcement last week that most industry watchers saw as inevitable: It would begin sharing information with Facebook about its users, allowing Facebook to offer “more relevant” ads as well as ads within WhatsApp itself, which until now has been ad-free.


eMarketer estimates that 12.8 million people in the US used WhatsApp on a monthly basis in 2014, the year it was bought by Facebook. Since then, we estimate, about 5.6 million more people have gotten on board with the free mobile messaging service—many likely taking seriously assurances by WhatsApp that it would not harvest user data for ad targeting, or serve ads at all.Indeed, such assurances were seen as especially important to WhatsApp users because the service itself foregrounds privacy and security.


Messages in WhatsApp are encrypted end-to-end, meaning the company can never see any of the content sent by its users around the globe.WhatsApp can share phone numbers, however, and Facebook has been trying to get that information from its users—many of whom have been reluctant to share it—for a while....

One of the main effects of Pokémon Go has been to draw attention to existing AR apps, that build on current smart device functions — namely GPS and cameras. This works because the cameras allow for a view the environment in real time, which can be “augmented” from the user’s viewpoint. AR’s potential has been recognized by retail for quite a while. For example Lego introduced an AR app a full six years ago, allowing customers to hold a box in front of an in-store monitor and see what the finished model would look like.


More recently, the online store Wayfair launched Wayfair view, allowing shoppers to superimpose potential purchases on their own space to see if the items would fit and how they would look. Ikea has an AR catalog app, that lets shoppers use their smartphones to virtually furnish their rooms with items from the catalog. Other apps allow customers to virtually try on shoes and clothes and in some cases share photos with their social networks.


Retailers can also use AR to enhance and tailor the customer experience. Using a specialized store app, customers can get more information about a product, its availability and potential discounts or promos. By including AR components to store displays, retailers are able to profit from the fact that their customers are often more preoccupied with their phones than the merchandise right in front of them. Apps can also direct customers to particular items, and provide a guided map to the specific shelf, something that is tremendously useful in large stores....

LinkedIn, for example, provided an excellent return on B2B ads, while Google still reigned supreme for B2C. StumbleUpon’s conversion rate for paid products was woefully low.

The top three paid ad spots on Google’s SERPs, for example, get 41% of the clicks. Even the best SEO techniques will only expose you to 59% of the viewing audience, and Google’s knowledge graph and infoboxes are quickly cutting into that as well.

Marketing professionals across the board agree that pay-per-click advertising works. The hard part is getting set up with a solid PPC plan to serve as your foundation.

We need to know how much to spend, when to spend it, where to spend it, and how to spend it correctly.

Those are tough calls to make, especially if you’re a paid advertising newbie. The paid platforms can be complicated and confusing. What do you do with all these options, data, and metrics?
