Business journalism funny? Viewfinder: Funny business

Business journalism funny? Viewfinder: Funny business | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it
The news business is rarely funny. Much of what we do every day is report on devastating acts of nature, the plight of those without voices – the problems of the world. For most of those stories it’s best to rely on the Joe Friday approach: just the facts, which almost always speak louder than any adjective you could throw at them. But sometimes it’s good to find an interesting story and tell it in a funny way. Here, video can really shine. A few examples: Myles Kane’s video of Apollo Robbins deftly lifting New Yorker writer Adam Green’s wallet, watch and cell phone; my New York Times colleague Erik Olsen’s profile of a singing ode to Charles Darwin; the weird wonders of the miracle fruit, which I made with another colleague, Kassie Bracken, who expertly edited and found the wonderful loopy music....

Create Newsletters in Minutes with FlashIssue.com

Create Newsletters in Minutes with FlashIssue.com | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

"FlashIssue is the quickest way to create email newsletters from your blog articles and curated content."

That's the claim they make and it's true. I tried this smart little app and had an attractive newsletter made up of the content from my website in minutes.

You simply enter the name of your website, the app fetches the content for you, and you select what you want to include.

Add a title or custom banner and an introduction and voilà - it's ready to send.

You can also curate content from other websites with a clipper.

To send, you can integrate the newsletter with mailing lists from MailChimp, with your Gmail contacts or even upload a list of addresses.

FlashIssue seems to be free at the moment. Give it a try at http://welcome.flashissue.com/beta/

[On my first test, I created a newsletter in four minutes. It looks like a very interesting newsletter, blogging and content marketing tool - JD]
