Content Marketing Gives Customers a Reason to Believe | AT&T Networking Exchange Blog

Content Marketing Gives Customers a Reason to Believe | AT&T Networking Exchange Blog | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it
How do you build an effective content strategy?

“People don’t buy what you do; people buy why you do it,” according to author Simon Sinek. The best brands give customers reasons to care about them. Unless your brand can climb into your prospect’s consideration set, that prospect will not seriously consider your brand for purchase. The earlier you reach your prospect in the customer decision journey, the better chance you have to make the sale. The secret may well lie in the power of content marketing.

What is content marketing?

Let’s start with my definition of marketing, which I describe as the process by which a firm profitably translates customer needs into revenue. So, what is content marketing? I believe it is the creation and application of all marketing content formats across relevant touch points where your brand “touches” customers. Armed with a good understanding of the media consumption habits of your audience, a marketer’s goal is to use content marketing to help meet the informational needs of your audience while achieving the revenue goals of your company....

5 Best Practices Every Content Curator Should Follow

5 Best Practices Every Content Curator Should Follow | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

I selected this piece by Steve Rosenbaum for Mashable because there are some excellent tips to make you a trusted source, build a loyal following and add value to the community.

I don't know about you but everytime I read a post about curation, I see something different, this one is from someone who knows what he's talking about.

Here are some highlights:

Be part of the content ecosystem

**What a curator should do is embrace content both as a marketer and an organizer

Follow a schedule

**No matter what and how much you post, 2 new links a day and one big post per week, that's a schedule

**Be consistent and post at the same time everyday so your readers will know when to expect new content

**consistency and regularity brings new users and helps you build a loyal fan base

Embrace multi platforms

**Put your work where your audience is, today you have to go to them (more about this in the article)

Engage and Participate

**Select only the best content - read everything before you hit the send button - you'll build trust by helping your readers find great content and information

**This is a great way to build relationships with bloggers and other curators (more on this in the article)

Share, Don't Steal

**Last but definitely not least, you must acknowledge the source, there are no exceptions

**When people choose to listen to you, it's because you've proven to separate the signal from the noise

The Big Boom in Content Curation

Hard to believe. But 95% of all marketers are now curating third-party content, Curata reports.

Content curation, the practice of finding and sharing online content, is now being used by almost all marketers, according to a survey by Curata (formerly HiveFire).

Of 400 firms surveyed, 95% had curated content in the last six months. And 100% of the non-curators had, in fact, shared articles or blog posts with prospects in the same period, Curata found.

Of the active curators, 45% share content daily, 33% weekly and 21% monthly. Agencies are more active than non-agencies.

Why go to the trouble of pushing third-party content?

The main reason is thought leadership—that answer was given by 85%, compared with 79% last year. Next are branding (80%) and SEO (65%)....
