4 Content Marketing Initiatives You Need in 2015

4 Content Marketing Initiatives You Need in 2015 | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

When presented with a list of 28 initiatives, B2C marketers indicated they are working on an average of 13 initiatives now, and they’ll be working on anadditional nine initiatives on average in the next 12 months. And, these initiatives aren’t easily achieved (i.e., better converting website visitors, creating higher-quality content, developing a better mobile strategy).

While there is validity in every single one of these initiatives, is tackling so much all at once really the best thing to do if you want to do it successfully? And, if you can’t do everything, what do you prioritize?...

After listening to CMI's research roundtable, Michele Linnx shares four initiatives any successful content marketer must do.

8 Best Approaches to Design a Website | Design Reviver | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

Despite the difference in setting, the people who come into your website aren’t all that different from people who shop in a store. Your storefront is just a virtual one. Just like shoppers casually walk through a store, letting their eyes wander, so too will your readers scan your content. People don’t read from beginning to end in most cases, they usually browse, looking for specific cues that entice them to read on.

People on the internet are looking for several things when they visit your website, these actionable concepts will be further exemplified in the coming approaches, but keep these characteristics in mind as you read...

15 Women Who Rock Social Media at Top Tech Companies | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

To honor women who “rock” the social web, we’ve been publishing a list for the past 4 years and  2014 marks the 5th. That’s about 100 social media pros we’ve featured ranging from marketers to business owners to those using social media to advance a cause.

Many of those honorees have reached out to share they’ve benefitted in many ways from those lists ranging from general notoriety to career advancement.

During research within my own personal network for the 2014 list, I noticed an impressive group of social media marketing pros in the tech space that represent some of the top brands from IBM to Adobe to Intel.

This group of 15 women represents some of the talented executives and practitioner social media smarties that me or my team at TopRank Online Marketing have had the good fortune to work with, collaborate with on projects or meet (IRL or virtually).

For anyone interested in advice from some of the most successful executives and managers in the social media marketing world, this is a great group to follow....

Pinterest: The Social Search Goldmine

Pinterest: The Social Search Goldmine | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

Pinterest is shaping up to be a very interesting and very different player. Many of us remember the quick rise in the search results that Flickr experienced a few years ago; however, this one is different.

Not Just Successful In Image Search

First of all, Pinterest is not only winning in image search; it is also winning in blended (regular mixed) search.

The second and even larger differentiator is the fact that Pinterest is all about driving website traffic vs. just posting an image. In most cases, people on Pinterest have a research mindset, and they fully expect when they click on an image containing a product to be brought to a product page.

Oh, did we also mention that it is a highly social asset with a long-term lifespan? Unlike a tweet or a Facebook post, which will be pushed down in the timeline and be seen by nobody after a few days, a pin does not disappear into cyberspace; it will live on for many months after its original creation..../

The crux of the research suggests that brands are wasting their time, effort, and money on Facebook and Twitter to diminishing returns. Guy, for example, explains his re-share test: “You should post stuff that you believe your followers will find so compelling that they will share it to their followers.” And if this piece of content doesn’t pass the test as something you yourself would re-share, then don’t post it. It’s that simple. This is the biggest mistake, he says, that digital marketers make other than not making enough use of visual content.

Ultimate Social Media Empire: Use Twitter To Search Every Tweet Ever Made

Ultimate Social Media Empire: Use Twitter To Search Every Tweet Ever Made | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

...At the moment, the updated search bar is pretty basic. Twitter plan to continue upgrading as time goes on, and more and more advanced features will become available over time. Still, you're able to set a few parameters, such as the dates you search between and whose posts you're combing through. In other words, you can choose to search a certain person’s tweets between December and January of last year, and you can choose to only search for tweets which contain the hashtag #christmas.

This allows you to track people's changing opinions over time. For those who understand coding and binary and scary words, Twitter have explained their new search bar in impossible amounts of detail over at their official blog post. Virtual reality is next journalism frontier

Virtual reality is next journalism frontier | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

Virtual reality is ascendant, and it’s time for media outlets to take notice. Why? Consumer access to VR devices is about to take off thanks to ambitious prototypes from Oculus Rift and, in the past year, several major projects have redefined immersion journalism. In September,

The Des Moines Register released Harvest of Change, a detailed tour of one family farm in Iowa. In January, Nonny de la Peña and the USC School of Cinematic Arts debuted Project Syria at the World Economic Forum. Project Syria is a full-body experience that places viewers at the scene of a bombing, then allows them to explore a refugee camp. And October’s round of Knight Prototype Fund grants included support for a blockbuster collaboration collaboration between The Tow Center for Digital Journalism at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, Frontline, and Secret Location, an interactive digital agency.

These organizations are working together to produce a documentary work focused on the Ebola crisis and will share best practices and strategies for producing virtual reality-augmented journalism once they’ve finished. These new forms of journalism are ambitious documentary enterprises, comprising many team members, cross-organizational partnerships, and potentially shocking prices to those familiar with prose journalism budgets. (Harvest of Change was produced for under $50,000.)

But this work is also providing valuable, vital public services with remarkable emotional punch. Full-body journalism is a remarkable tool for encouraging empathy through what de la Peña calls “presence....
